Everything in kpop is so fake and manipulated now I miss the good old 2nd gen where groups selling 100k or an Mv hitting 10 million was a big deal now kpop's popularity is so inflated fans and companies use so many strategies to inflate a groups' popularity enpipen just came out with an album they sold more than 700k units but the songs are not charting on any k-chart besides bugs which fans manipulate by mass streaming by making korean accounts everything is so fake now
MV views= 70-80% views are due to fans doing mass streaming plus ads bought by companies FAKE!!
Album sales= fans bulk buying, multiple versions to boost sales, fansigns by companies where you have to buy 100s of albums to even get a chance to talk with your fav, Chinese bars of idols popular in Chinese markets bulk buy albums from anywhere to 50000 to even 500-600k for more popular artists thus even if you are only popular in a certain niche you can sell million albums due to dedicated fandoms

Live singing: most idols don't sing live these days either it's prerecorded vocals, loud backtrack or some combination of pitch correction+autotune and now they are using live recorded vocals where they even record mistakes which makes it sound so realistic most fans don't realize that their favs are lip singing but its a fraud, it's manipulative as hell Aespa haven't sung live even once and they already have one PAK the standards are becoming so low now back in the early 2000s artists like britney, jlo and mj use to get so much flak for lip synching but their concerts were so high energy it made sense for them to not sing everything live but now groups with more than 5-7 members aren't expected to sing live because HARD CHOREOS when most of these idols sing max 40-50 seconds per song they are even lip singing in concerts these days like what do these idols do all these years for training???

Halve any numbers and that's the true number of streams and sales. If there's a lot of Spanish, Brazilian or tons of Indian comments, it's often paid posters. I'm very suspicious when there's few Korean, Chinese or Japanese comments. It's kpop, and it's more popular there in East Asia, Sea and India. The more egregious comments are about the one on the right, not a fan but he's cute and wow it's not my fandom but they're amazing. How did they find the videos? Organic growth means a rookie group like t×t or sk takes months to reach 30 million views. There's no way a video in a small genre like kpop is getting 30-100 million views in a day.

if it’s pictures, please immediately screen shot and upload, don’t use tweets, facebook pages or instagram posts. so many were deleted, example that one clock picture jonghyun posted. it’s gone. for websites and blogs, i say use internet archive way back machine, u need to enter it there first so it would save.

To be fair Minho also bought Key an expensive bag. I think that ring wasn't what people made it out to be. These IDOLS are walking ads and take advantage of whatever fans believe to sell products. I don't believe Jonghyun was in love with Key. Key was attracted to him pre-surgery but changed later. Their body language spoke volumes. Key took advantage of Jonghyun's giving nature to demand gifts and he did this with Minho too. Even that public proclaimation of love was fan service. You could see how uncomfortable Jonghyun was and he even said "this is friendship". But fans will always think whatever they want. I love Twice and The Feels is like their original sound. I believe Sana or Jihyo said that it is fun like they used to do. Anyway aside from a few grammatically awkward lyrics the English is well done and it doesn't feel like it's pandering to American or English speaking demographics.

I honestly thought Blackpink was an American group when I first heard of them. Someone mentioned how fake kpop is now and I agree. I was completely turned off by kpop due to what Blackpink YG and SM does. It didn't help that when Blackpink and kpop "blew up" in the US back in 2018 it was so overhyped and the mainstream media was (still are) promoting Blackpink hard. It was so full of lies it really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Hello, I'm new here. I really appreciate this place! It is opening my eyes to a few things.. Don't know If anyone's gonna read this but just wanted to share a bit of my experience with kpop.

I got into kpop in 2016. I became obsessed with it. Listening to kpop, watching dance practice non stop, funny videos and variety shows ALL THE TIME. Wasting my precious time on twitter to see every updates about my favorite groups, reading ridiculous fanfics on tumblr, giving up on sleep cause of streaming, fantasizing/daydreaming about being with my biases.... Now I ask myself why those things were so important? Why did I waste years like this?

I know, however, that the biggest reason i lived like that was because I was not okay emotionally, and kpop became my escape. It gave me joy and some satisfaction. But I also see now that the whole industry is made to keep you obsessed and trapped, also the whole occult thing going on, which back then I was completely unaware of. Only recently I got to know about the illuminati and the way it controls the entertainment industry to control us...

After all these years, I finally started getting tired physically and mentally of this lifestyle of mine. And also tired of the stan culture which is toxic and just too much. So started getting away from it slowly few months ago, specially because i realized that kpop had become an idol in my life, and for a christian, which I am, was not okay. Then I found a few things on youtube about illuminati on kpop. After a while I got to know about this site and the bt5 thread and later this one.

Right now, I'm still going through the phase of letting go of kpop. The emotional bond I have developed with my favs was too strong also, music has huge impact on me, since I was really young. When the sound is good I just can't stop listening to it!... it's a hard battle, but I'm thankful that these threads exist, though I don't believe everything is said here and on the other thread as well, but it is keeping me alert and it is opening my eyes. Though I enjoy a few few songs and have laughed a bit with the videos I saw, I still feel uncomfortable and very sad when I look at them. I see no talent about them (except for the way some of them dance and the way few of them can sing, like two or just one lol) and that would be enough reason for them not to be this famous. But after all the things I've been reading here, it makes sense now....

I liked what you said in your posts. I only been listening to kpop for a couple years now and I honestly have no business indulging in it knowing what I know but I guess it's for a reason. Perhaps I'm a little damaged myself?
Anyway I don't know much about day6ix but I am aware of the esoteric themes in twic3 1tzy and somewhat str@y kids. A lot of all seeing eye stuff, duality, heaven/hell references and now sex kitten programming.

Nah but seriously BLACKPINK released a movie in theaters which was all old footage pasted together and the fans still worship them. No Japanese original content but old songs. No new music since 2020 but planned 2 online concerts for 2021. I’m so over them at this point. Then you have TWICE who make consistent comebacks so I mentioned that on YouTube and people are whining that their overworked by JYP. As if people don’t work for a living and that’s not the job they chose. As if TWICE life is so harder than the average 9-5 worker or if they personally told them they were tired. It’s like you whine for no music then complain when you get it. Humans can’t be satisfied and the delusions have drawn us mad.

If they genuinely need rest they will get it. I don't necessarily believe the assertion that Jyp or any company overworks their artists and it's not like Twic3 doesn't have days off in-between comebacks and other events. The recent behind the scenes videos of The Feels fans were again complaining about the girls being tired when honestly there's missing context there. Video shoots and everything artists do have long hours it what it is.
To be frank the people whom are complaining the loudest are inexperienced that hasn't worked a job/career in their life. It's definitely cognitive dissonance to complain about artists being overworked with many projects or being underworked with zero/meaningless projects.
Last note the girls said they are used to working and aren't comfortable with no work thus such complaints about so-called overwork is silly for the most part.
