None of us know the truth
We will not know that truth of all truths
until our very last breaths
All we can do is try living as good as we can be
I will not judge you for your beliefs
I would appreciate the same courtesy with mine
You Nailed It, i totally agree with this statement but people will never believe nor understand. People dont ask questions, people are too reliant, the worst is everybody WANTs to be right.

They wont know that, they will use the scripture that says you are from your father the devil for not following God and his law blah blah blah. I mean that alone is toxic for both the mind and soul. Like you is a slave to it.
I'm a slave no more.

“Morality is doing right, no matter what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told, no matter what is right.” -- H. L. Mencken

This is so true but the human obsession wont flee from following orders.

How do u know what is right ?
We all have a conscience. To rely on some ancient text to tell you what's moral, you've given up a part of your own natural instincts.

"You don't need religion to have morals. If you can't determine right from wrong, then you lack empathy, not religion." – AthiestRepublic.com

NOTHING Is RIGHT. Like The Bible Says - Everything Is Meaningless.

Right and Wrong Is A Brand That Sticks, This Is WHY We All Is Obsess With Our Obsession. Like Our Brain Be That Of A Baby Having No Idea Its A Baby, When It(Brain) Become Consious It Begins To Feed Itself, After A While Longer Of So much Information And Misinformation It Realise How More It Dont Know. This State Leads One Into The Void Of Endless Questions Pointing At One Direction(Yourself). In The Almost End, Your Will Realise Life Is Nothing But A Cage. More Like You In A Box And Everything You Do Ends In That Box.

The change will happen one person at a time, until it becomes a torrent...
It will take the rest of forever. I mean, look what man has become, there is not change until he is extinct

I think it's been argued pretty well that to have objective morality you need God. Hence my values not being the same as yours. Truth as a concept has to exist dependently of opinion. So without God you get moral relativism and that just isn't logically coherent.

This is what I been saying in other threads here
Maybe the actual original book if there ever was one
may contain the truths
Being that the original has been translated so many times
by so many different peoples
could it not then be
that those translators and TPTB
used this book as another form of control over the masses
I know for myself I feel a 100% the same
Every place I tried to find spiritual guidance through
A religion only left me with new abuse and more questions
Some of which I voiced here
It's not for lack of trying as I tried a lot
Through all my searching I found no answers
Except the basic of all truths
Cause no harm and be good
None of us know the truth
We will not know that truth of all truths
until our very last breaths
All we can do is try living as good as we can be
I will not judge you for your beliefs

... and TPTB

True. They still do.
They mangle it, whether it is correct or not, to serve their purposes.
And--
It's interesting, some of the (seemingly!) smaller details are different from the original-- even the KJV.

But... the Geneva bible (1560) preceded the King James (1611)-- and the Septuagint precedes them all. It was the original translation from the Hebrew (OT). I always read that version with the others. Its remarkable. @Red Sky at Morning made a post about it a few years ago. Many thanks btw.
:)

As far as the OP is concerned-- it is surprising to me that at no point did this person pray about, nor did anyone-- including a pastor-- even suggest he should. Which is unfortunate.

If this great big announcement of his is authentic, it seems as though he is fundamentally incapable of separating God from the church, as an institution.
That is important. Js.

Thats the point, you can put it how ever you want. still, it goes on and on and on. Like a circle. No fixed point, no begining no end.

I do not share your gloomy outlook.

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” -- Marcus Aurelius

A popular idea is the worst reason to accept it. God is within. I need no other.

An interesting thread! It pulls in a lot of loose ends I have been contemplating recently - the ideas of heroism, objective truth and cynicism

About a week ago, I nearly created a post which I was going to entitle “Pollyanna and the Cynics

I have always hated the film Pollyanna as it portrays somebody who appears to think things are better than they really are. I just watched a clip and it got me thinking - a lot! Pollyanna is an optimistic heroine, but she finds herself at odds with the dour, glass-half-empty types in the storyline.

On the other hand, If you play the Assassin’s Creed series of games, you pretty quickly notice the cynicism about all beliefs that it promotes in its heroism. The creed of the assassins is “Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted” which seems to be an excellent distillation of philosophical nihilism.

I am a Brit and sometimes pessimism comes as easily as a drizzling Tuesday morning. Most pessimists I know see themselves as realists. Few people in the world of conspiracy theory are Pollyanna types, but many are cynics, and their heroes are people who have “seen through” everything

I recently watched an intriguing talk by Dick Keyes from L’Abri on seeing through cynicism. I think the talk provides some interesting intellectual tools to consider the issue of this thread..

…which all leads me to the question, who is more in touch with reality, Pollyanna or the cynics??

The TRUTH Is The Reality, The Truth Is Everything. Even A LIE Is The Truth. God Is Not Good, God Is Not Bad. Damage Your Ignorance You Will Understand What I Say.

God's Obsession Is The Truth, This Is Why It(God) Doesnt Joke With It. Life Is Simple But We Humans Love Our Precious Ignorance Over Learning And Understanding.

Education And Money Cant Not, Cant Never Buy You COMMON SENSE. If You Is Emotionally Attached To Your Tribe, Religion, Or Political Leaning To The Point That Truth And Justice Become Secondary Considerations Your Education Is Useless, Your Exposure Is Useless, If You Cannot Reason Beyond Petty Sentiments, You Is A Liability To Mankind.

I Wont Advice You Stick To The Stick, The Devil Is Always In The Details. Learn From Them And Always Check Behind The Cotton Before You Accept Anything You See.
