Umm.. Was my grandmother forced into a marriage?

Lets just become hypothetical for a second and say my grandfather hit my grandmother once or twice. Does that marriage deserve to be defined by abuse and does that abuse outweigh everything else? You are not placing any value or associating provision as loving or an act of love which I think is wrong, especially considering how hard my grandfather worked with multiple jobs just to raise his children and ensure his wife was warm during the winter...

Also you are insinuating that ALL women supported feminism at the time. As if feminism spoke for the average womans wants and desires. I am pretty sure the CIA backed feminism and the founder of feminism and what the CIA wants the CIA gets.

You are attributing womens supposed unhappiness to their husbands and not being able to work in the same capacity as men. You are completely discounting any and all provision and security as an act of love or doing anything for the wife when I am pretty sure forced marriages didnt even exist in the time we are speaking of. Despite a man being abusive and having psychological issues that lead him to abuse I am still sure many of them still loved their wifes provided for their NEEDS and you are saying that times where she was abused should discount that. Why do you get to determine that these aspects within a marriage dont deserve recognition as loving the wife and value?
You are justifying abusing your wife. Take that in for a minute. You think going to work, providing a home and food gives you the right to hit your wife. This is exactly why feminism became a thing.

I just read more of your drivel.. so basically a wife beater is still a good guy in your opinion cuz he pays some bills and that’s clearly love:rolleyes:

fuck off psycho. Seriously

I’m not really trying to go tit for tat here but I got tired of seeing the question. They were peacefully protesting which is a constitutional right afforded to every citizen of all genders regardless of the times voting rights. That isn’t “asking to be punished”
I don’t mean asking to be punished by protesting but by CHOOSING to go to jail.

as for the bankers I’ve been arguing for a decade that feminism isn’t the issue it’s the distraction. The industrial revolution is the issue. No one ever takes me up on it though. Easier to blame the women folk.
I don’t know what you’re getting at with the industrial revolution bit but a lot of what’s being said in this thread is like straight out the feminist handbook.

The fact that this is all you got out of what I just said demonstrates how warped your mindset is how and bias you are. I didn't justify anything. You are the one with comprehension problems. You are of the mindset that its not enough to know my own grandfather, but I need to go to my grandmother just to make sure she wasnt abused, because according to you there was a substantial chance she was. You are so mad you cant even properly comprehend any of what I just said and contend I somehow justified abuse in my sentiment. Your bias is obvious and you are the one always blowing up and losing your cool so if anyone is psycho you are

Not to mention its like I said before. You give a woman the ability to work in the same capacity as men and they arent happy. In fact many of them work and they wish they could retire or vacation at home. You give a woman the ability to be independent and self sufficient and many of them are still unhappy. You give a woman a good husband and father and many of them will still say they are unhappy with their life in general. Yet you are saying that women were unhappy, because of their husbands and inability to work in the same capacity as men. Thats pretty puffed up sentiment....

What absolute rubbish.

1/ women have always worked as pointed out several times. However they had no right to their own money, property or a bank account. The husband or father had rights to her finances.
2/ it's been proven women live longer and happier lives when not attached to men.
3/ if women were happy being dependent on men feminism would not have happened.
4/ if women were truely miserable with feminism and all that freedom society would have regressed back
5/ what exactly do you think housewives do? They don't have a salary, they work 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, even on vacation they cook, clean care for an ungrateful husband and children. Workers can clock out and the day is over housewives keep going until they finally get sleep, IF they get sleep.

I didn’t start the thread. And plenty in the feminist handbook (whatever that even is) has valid merit.

would go home or go to jail have been an acceptable choice during the civil rights movement? Would you sit here and say they should have all just packed up and left. I doubt it.

the societal ills everyone attributes to feminism were the result of the industrial revolution. Feminism is just the scapegoat. The IR is what changed us from extended families working together in rural areas to nuclear families working outside of the home apart. More women working was necessitated as a result of this change in conditions and the low pay that accompanied it. As was formal schooling. Feminism was an effect, not a cause.

There is no point reading anything beyond that. You justified and okayed spousal abuse. That’s all I need to know to decide id rather not converse with you. And no, I didn’t read this whole post either. I have enough to be mad about today - NYs recent vaccine mandate for one. I don’t need to add a sexist jerk to the list.

I have a problem with generalized sentiment such as:

Women were by and large mostly unhappy. Women were mostly unhappy, because of their husbands. Women were also mostly unhappy, because they could not work in the same capacity as men.

There are allot of reasons women were and are unhappy, but given the fact that women now have all these things feminism gave them and still many of them aren't happy it now stands to reason that its completely unfair to scapegoat and fault their prior unhappiness toward their husbands and inability to work in the same capacity as men.

Nope.... and to contend I did and pass it off as true is immensely irresponsible, unfair, and evil.

Im starting to think your the sexist one.
Every single person here can read your posts. Keep convincing yourself otherwise though so you can believe that your a good guy.

I don’t care how much money you spend on someone or how much you claim to love them if you put your hands on them to harm them you are a disgusting abusive piece of shit and there’s no redemption. Sorry.

Im just not going to be bullied by your emotions and insults and allow them to be what negates my points, because you are too upset or unwilling to deal with them. In fact you are doing exactly what CNN would do. All you are doing is painting me as the bad guy so you can rally more angry women to join alongside you. No logic or rationale, just pure insults and emotion based baiting to lay a foundation for your witch hunt.

You are a feminist bully and you attribute any opposition to your ideas and nonsense as something derogatory hoping that its discredited on that basis.

My dude, you did exactly that lol. You literally brushed off "one or two" instances of physical abuse in favour of more years of a "peaceful" marriage where the husband provided for the wife. Because the so-called "love" of provision is enough to cast one or two instances of abuse in doubt. Wtf.

Again, if women were happy they wouldn’t have gotten behind feminism. They clearly did.

Not all women were for it though. Of course with the media continually pushing it to the masses, as time went on more and more women hopped on board...

My view on the civil rights movement (in general) is the same as my view on feminism. Force fed social movement backed by the bankers. So yes I would have suggested (20/20 hindsight of course) that they go home and stop begging to sit with, eat with, live by, people they were claiming at the time hated them.

That’s a good take on the industrial revolution though. I’d just say that families were still strong and intact UNTIL feminism was introduced to the masses. So maybe we could put it as the initial blow was the IR, but feminism seems to be the last blow.

No, I merely insinuated(in a hypothetical sense) that a marriage lasting for many years where only a few instances of physical abuse occurred should not ultimately be branded as an abusive marriage, especially if a husbands acts of love exponentially outweigh the few times he hit his wife. If you misconstrue this to somehow be me justifying abuse then that is pretty wicked. There is a difference between a husband losing his temper and doing something he normally wouldn't do and a man that flat out beats his wife habitually.

Abuse is abuse buddy. I wouldn't justify ANYONE hitting ANYONE regardless of gender or frequency, just because they're usually a nice person. If that's your take on what constitutes a loving marriage then honestly it's best you stay single. That's scary as hell.

Genuine question: where would black people in America be today without the civil rights movement?

Action/reaction. Families may have been “together” but that doesn’t necessarily mean they were strong and in tact. That’s more a reflection of the laws and the economy then anything else.

Your not even properly representing what I actually said. That is what is scary as hell.

If you disagree with me and contend that a 20 year marriage where the husband lost his temper a few times and hit his wife deserves to be defined as an abusive marriage and feminists agree with you then both you and feminists are dangerous.
