If you can’t pay your rent due to government orders then you should be able to collect 1) unemployment or 2) rent relief - this should be a priority. Not corporate bail outs. There are a lot of people still falling through the cracks of the relief programs that have been implemented. That needs to addressed and fixed.If you can't pay your rent you should be allowed to go back to work, period.
When there are mass evictions and all those people crowd into some shelter, then get the virus. Those potential deaths are on the stay home crowd.
But saying they should be able to “go back to work” isn’t the most honest argument either. There are still plenty of places hiring despite shut down orders. If I needed to, if I “fell through the cracks,” I’d be applying at those places aggressively.
