If you can't pay your rent you should be allowed to go back to work, period.

When there are mass evictions and all those people crowd into some shelter, then get the virus. Those potential deaths are on the stay home crowd.

If you can’t pay your rent due to government orders then you should be able to collect 1) unemployment or 2) rent relief - this should be a priority. Not corporate bail outs. There are a lot of people still falling through the cracks of the relief programs that have been implemented. That needs to addressed and fixed.

But saying they should be able to “go back to work” isn’t the most honest argument either. There are still plenty of places hiring despite shut down orders. If I needed to, if I “fell through the cracks,” I’d be applying at those places aggressively.

I've heard a rent relief bill is in the works. I just doubt it will get through.

Also, I'm not very familiar with how much unemployment pays per month. But I doubt it will cover the average monthly rent payment. The same goes for any temporary job. If a person was a manager or higher position they can't go make up that income by getting a cashier job.

Unless you made over $1175/ week unemployment is currently covering more than or the entirety of your previous paycheck - in most states. I think the lowest amount of the states would be $875 (you’d have to make more than 875/week before you’d be losing out with unemployment right now). So yeah some people are going to lose out but not most. Especially considering you don’t owe fica on ue, so really it probably accounts for people who even make slightly more then that - like $1300/week in actual dollars.

The people who are going to really fall through the cracks are those at the bottom - who get paid off the books. They need rent relief. They don’t need to go risk their lives, it’s a false equivalence.

Makes you wonder when FB is involved in keeping folks under "quarantine" eh? I mean, they do have a good reputation when it comes to being transparent and not manipulating folks' behavior and data right? :-D

Did the men threaten anyone? I think they brought their guns because they have the right to bear arms...but I didn‘t see the news report they threatened anyone with them. I would have left the guns at home myself..but its their right to bear arms.
