I don’t think anyone can really argue that a candidate having a heart attack isn’t a concern, no matter who it is, but Bernie seems fine.

And if he does get elected, and is incapacitated for health reasons once in office, wouldn’t that mean that whoever stepped into the role would at least be a little less communisty?

No Lisa. That’s just what your far right fear mongering gods tell you. Read a book.

Google the Nordic countries. See how they’re doing.
That’s what I‘ve heard anyway...

It's true that not all socialism ends in the tyranny of Leninism or Stalinism or Maoism or Castroism or Ba'athism or Chavezism or the Khmer Rouge—only most of it does.

He’s a democratic socialist Lisa. That’s why I told you to research Nordic countries. That’s the system they use.
You should read the article..it talks about that too...
But look: Norway!

Socialism is perhaps the only ideology that Americans are asked to judge solely based on its piddling "successes." Don't you dare mention Albania or Algeria or Angola or Burma or Congo or Cuba or Ethiopia or Laos or Somalia or Vietnam or Yemen or, well, any other of the dozens of other inconvenient places socialism has been tried. Not when there are a handful of Scandinavian countries operating generous welfare-state programs propped up by underlying vibrant capitalism and natural resources.

Of course, socialism exists on a spectrum, and even if we accept that the Nordic social-program experiments are the most benign iteration of collectivism, they are certainly not the only version. Pretending otherwise would be like saying, "The police state of Singapore is more successful than Denmark. Let's give it a spin."

It turns out, though, that the "Denmark is awesome!" talking point is only the second most preposterous one used by socialists. It goes something like this: If you're a fan of "roads, schools, libraries and such," although you may not even be aware of it, you are also a supporter of socialism.

This might come as a surprise to some, but every penny of the $21,206 spent in Ocasio-Cortez's district each year on each student, rich or poor, is provided with the profits derived from capitalism. There is no welfare system, no library that subsists on your good intentions. Having the state take over the entire health care system could rightly be called a socialistic endeavor, but pooling local tax dollars to put books in a building is called local government.

It should also be noted that today's socialists get their yucks by pretending collectivist policies only lead to innocuous outcomes like local libraries. But for many years they were also praising the dictators of Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the nation's most successful socialist, isn't merely impressed with the goings-on in Denmark. Not very long ago, he lauded Hugo Chavez's Venezuela as an embodiment of the "American dream," even more so than the United States.

Unfortunate Bernie sold out by going open borders or at least I'd applaud his authenticity at least.
Bernie’s parents fled ww2 and immigrated here. As did many peoples. I’ve never heard him advocate open borders, he’s just not anti immigration in totality like you seem to be.

Actually the States are made up of immigrants and that’s common knowledge.. Immigrants are more than welcome and encouraged to come here for a chance at a better life...BUT..legally... Anyway Bernie is once again more loyal to the almighty dollar than his own voters...He’s a Commie and it’s obvious he has no real interest in anything other than himself but it doesn’t matter anyway.. he has no chance to win the Presidency let alone beat Trump.. I’d like to see who could make it through one debate with our President before he rips them a new one.. EzPz

He says he’s not for open borders, but he promises to make anyone who’s been in the country for five years a citizen, take down any border barrier, abolish ICE, decriminalize illegal entry and let sanctuary cities refuse to work with federal agents, release all border jumpers into the US, and he says that anyone who comes into the country will be eligible for the same healthcare and welfare as US citizens. Do you support all that, and, even if he’s not for open borders, what’s the difference?

I can tell you used to be a journalist.. you have a very specific way of playing with words.

Yes, citizenship for people who’ve been here for 5 years, working and contributing. Ok.

Nowhere does it say take down border barriers

ICE’s powers would be redistributed to the agencies they belonged to up until ICE was created.

Illegal entry was already decriminalized, making it a criminal act was recent and has resulted in the mess we’ve seen down there the last year or so.

I saw nothing about sanctuary cities but could have missed it.

Release all border jumpers? What it says is that detention is costly and often not warranted when there are other cheaper and more humane options available that should be used instead. I don’t agree with private prison companies who donate heavily to politicians making fuck tons of money off peoples suffering.

Healthcare and welfare... yeah I don’t agree with that. It’s okay to not agree with someone you like overall on certain issues.

My take on immigration is complicated. I don’t fall neatly on either side of this issue. I don’t expect to agree with anyone on it.
