Okay so what do you suggest we do to help them then?
It seems to me that giving them food and calling that help while not alleviating their homelessness is not really helping them. But obviously that’s my own personal opinion, lol!

It’s really dependent on why their homeless in the first place...and if they want to help themselves not be homeless.

Ok Lisa. I find that hard to believe. And if in fact true, then your lack of empathy is even more bewildering and difficult to get past
It’s true...my dad worked three jobs at one point..

I don’t have a lack of empathy just no belief in the current way of “helping” that is no help at all.

Ok Lisa so let’s give them housing. I’m good with that. Are you?

What would they have to do in return?
Please stop pretending your concern is that the help isn’t actually helping. Your only concern is the classic debate of worthy vs unworthy poor.

What do you think they should have to do in return Lisa? Are you incapable of answering a direct question?

Does the help stop them from being homeless? No it doesn’t does it..so in that case is it really helping? I would say no.

I think of you give something for nothing than that doesn’t inspire anyone to change their circumstances but if they have to work for something it’s a better incentive.

No, we didn’t and your point?
My point is your dad had three jobs but you never went hungry. So you struggled, you were poor perhaps but the fact that you never went hungry means that you were nowhere near as poor as the poor you rant against and would deprive a sandwich. You don’t really understand poverty. You’ve never been hungry, you’ve never been homeless.

Just answer the question. Are you in favor of giving homeless people housing or no?

I do understand being poor and a dad who had to work three jobs so we could make it...

I did answer the question.

If you're expecting something in return, then your intention was never truly charitable in the first place, was it? What's wrong with a temporary relief or comfort, no matter how small and fleeting? NOTHING! Your argument that it does more harm than good is rather cold and uncaring, and you're only using it as an excuse to hide your own selfish greed and unwillingness to help.

I did answer the question.
No you didn’t Lisa. It was a yes or no question. You said neither yes or no, instead asking what they’d have to do for it. I then asked you what you think they should have to do which you haven’t answered either

That was the answer..what would they have to do for it?

And this is my answer for why they should have to do something for it...
”I think of you give something for nothing than that doesn’t inspire anyone to change their circumstances but if they have to work for something it’s a better incentive.”

They should have to work for it...just like everyone else has to work for what they have. That work could start out different with addicts..but eventually the goal is to have them become productive members of society right? Or is the goal to just live in free housing? I guess it all depends on the goal..I wouldn’t agree to just free housing with them doing nothing to get it.

So then Lisa, the simple answer to my question was no. If you aren’t in favor of giving housing to people who couldn’t otherwise afford it themselves that’s all you had to say.

It wasn’t a simple yes or no answer for me..and its still not. Yes, if they want to work for it, no if they don’t.

You are giving non answers to try to obscure things. Most homeless people work. Many homeless people do not have addiction issues. What requirements would they need to meet for you to give them housing? And if you aren’t giving them a sandwich or a pair of shoes because you say it doesn’t solve their problem of being homeless but you aren’t willing to give them housing to actually solve their problem of being homeless than what exactly are you trying to say and why can’t you just be blunt with your unwillingness to help those who are struggling and own it? If there’s nothing to be ashamed of why these dirty tactics?
