Trump Presenting Peace Plan To Israeli Leaders Today, Deal Goes Public Tomorrow
WASHINGTON – President Trump has just revealed key details of the "Deal of the Century" to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He will purportedly reveal the plan to opposition candidate Benny Gantz momentarily. The White House will remain silent to the public until there is buy-in from both candidates. Assuming the briefings go as planned within the next two hours, and both candidates agree to the deal, there will be a joint press conference tomorrow between Trump and Netanyahu revealing some of the details to the public. According to Trump, the peace plan will be revealed tomorrow at noon:
Whatever the deal is, it's shocking to think there may already be buy-in from one side. That sets this agreement apart from all that came before. From all that we've heard about it so far, it will be very advantageous to Israel (at least superficially), so how will they get the Palestinian Authority to agree? The way Trump deals, it may not matter at all: Israel holds the cards and technically no "Palestinian State" exists. On top of that, there has been a historic thaw in relations between Israel and key Arab nations in the past several years. It may be that the Sunni axis is ready to put the issue to rest by acquiescing to Trump's plan. I imagine the plan could go something like this:
1. The two-state solution is no longer workable because of longstanding Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria, and Israel's security needs in the Jordan Valley.
2. The Palestinian Authority + Hamas have never been partners for peace.
3. Therefore, the new arrangement is an American fiat. In other words, "this is just the way it's going to be." If the Palestinians want a state, then they have to accept the deal and recognize their Jewish state counterpart. If they don't accept, then they'll never get a state. "I'll make you a deal you can't refuse."
