They are not "so-called" independent. I didn't give much info about them and what we were doing at Fukushima because I feel like giving personal info. Sorry but I choose to believe people that I personally meet and work with instead of some people in a website. If you read my comments again I am not trying to deny Fukushima accident, I am pointing out that this is a "wolf blame the other wolf" situation. Also, I don't want this to be turning into argument I am not here to argue with people but to share my opinion so this is my final answer bye...
So you have been in the Tohoku/Fukushima region/prefecture recently? I dont know what to say other than you dropped a post here with nothing to verify or back up your outlandishly un-scientific claims and then got in your feelings when you weren't believed. If you have some statement I could look at from one of the scientists you spoke with, perhaps your post would have been more relevant.

Sorry to learn that, are you in Fukushima prefecture or the Tohku region?
No i am not
(I don't live in Japan but i have friends there )
I can only tell you from experience that i know how thyroid problems feel cause i have them

And i remember that all those in the area touched by the meltdown were supposed to be controlled for radiation and thyroid problems also
(As a result there was a spike in thyroid conditions right after the meltdown
)

Idk if you get what i mean
I'm not very good at explaining things ^^'

I do get your drift and appreciate what you have shared. Im very concerned about the children growing up there. TEPCO seems to have the government cowed into working together to keep the public un/mis-informed......

Anytime :)
I am scared for them as well :(
But most people have moved away to other places
It's just the families still remaining in sheds that scare me

(You know i've heard stories of kids getting bullied and ostracized because they were victims of the nuclear disaster
Things like : don't touch.... because they are contaminated and will give it to you
Poor kids :( )

There is a huge cover up from TEPCO and the government
They are working hand in hand sadly :/

But, the situation is not serious as it is exaggerated by western media.
The situation has been and still is rarely even reported in the western media, let alone exaggerated. Even the world leaders have been ignoring it at their climate conferences since 2011. Same thing with 'mainstream climate activists'. Nuclear power is big business. So is the Japanese economy, the Pacific fishing industry, and the Olympics.
Shhhh
It's not that I don't think that your Japanese friends are being untruthful.. but they obviously must be brainwashed by the cover-up
Also, in Japanese culture there is a lot of don't ask don't tell kinds of things that go on.

I have been there quite a bit since the disaster. Not many people outside of the mandated evacuation area seem to have permanently left. many have moved back and are carrying on as if the issue has bees resolved. But it aint even been properly addressed yet.....

Indeed. But once they are moved to action, they do so with force towards their government.

Japan Will Release Radioactive Fukushima Water Into Sea for Decades
Yeah, I haven't forgotten about this either. I actually bought a radiation monitor and was taking measurments for awhile. Seeing the results on the American Southwest Coast got depressing after awhile.
Saw a dude in Arkansas take a geiger counter to his ice encrusted mailbox and the results were not good....

this japanese farmer has the radiation below the detectable threshold.

using EM-1 (effective microorganisms), the radiation can be broken down harmlessly, similar to how the mushrooms growing in the reactor rooms are digesting the radioactive compounds.
