Antithesis to Pop Music and the Occult

Well hello,

The VigilantCitizen is a great site for highlighting the obvious connection around the occult imagery and pop music. The intro "Read this First" is a great explanation combining communication theory and all that is occult. Often we see a lot of criticism about "Cultural Marxism" at play within the industry however Marx wrote extensively about the construction of culture via capitalist forces and the resulting "Alienation" that people feel.

In the interests of critical thinking one also must post some opposing questions which to me which don't seem to fit the narrative the VigilantCitizen explains.

1. The in your face symbolism (it is not very hidden). Although VigilantCitizen explains that such "dumbed down" symbolism may be the result of the "hierarchy showing itself" this apparent self-flagellation almost appears a parody of itself. Are consumers considered so unaware that the producers of such occult content consider it real symbolism that actually does influence the consumer? If this is the case then the intelligence of such content producers may be up for debate.

2. The tragic statistics of suicide within the industry. So many performers have sadly ended their lives. I will not name examples but the sheer numbers indicate that the industry is not really concerned about looking after their own - is this due to the occult and self-loathing? If this was the case then the performers themselves can not be considered willing participants in such a charade - where is the backlash to the occult (or whatever you wish to call it)? Are there any instances of bands/singers leaving the industry due to a revulsion to the industry itself? Where are the reports?

3. Does the industry eat their own - Harvey Weinstein is a good example. Used to be one of the most powerful men in Hollywood - an elite possible - what the fuck happened to him - no Jewish/NWO/Illuminati mafia save here .

4. Let's search for non occult ridden music and see what one finds. There are loads. "Storm the Gates of Hell" by Demon Hunter is a classic example of good ole Christian music with a twist (180 degrees vertical to be precise).

5. The existence of this site. The NWO it would appear do not see it as much of a threat.

6. And VigilantCitizen again I praise you for your time and efforts but with all the advertising on this site (bit over the top) to quote a song from AC/DC "Honey....What you do for Money"?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

1.) I think symbolism in this day of age is often used to distract people. Even people aware of what these symbols are supposed to mean don't understand why they have the meaning they do. They also don't seem to realize that symbols only have the power they give them... And since people view these symbols are powerful or dangerous, that's why they are used in the first place.

2.) Creative people seem to have higher rates of depression than normal. Depression leads to suicide, or substance abuse. Since so much of the music industry is controlled, especially when you're signed to a major label, a musician might start feeling restrained by the rules they have to follow.

3.) Absolutely. When people outlive their usefulness, they are disposed of.

4.) Some might disagree, since the band doesn't have a very positive view of Christianity, but Crass' discography. They've been broken up for 36 years and their music still feels dangerous and genuinely rebellious.

5.) The average conspiracy theorist isn't really much of a threat to the powers that be. They aren't revolutionary, but reactionary, and their problem with the system tends to be with who they perceive who the see on the throat that the powers behind it. Many people here would be happy with a theocracy and the powers that be would be fine with it too.

6.) Vigilant Citizen is one of the bigger conspiracy theory websites out there, even if the forums aren't as lively as they used to be. I imagine he wants to make money from that. Advertising is the easiest way to do that. You can counter that with adblock, though.

You really think that crass are not occult?
Yes. Something not being Christian or even anti-Christian does not make it occult in nature and considering most members of Crass would roll their eyes at the idea that there's anything magical about it.

Steve Ignorant worked with Current 93 in the mid 80s

btw I agree totally with this that you said

Democrats, Reality Asylum, Gasman...
Yeah, they were something special, but they were (and still are) part of the occult underground.

You say they would roll their eyes, like you know them. Do you?
I just know people who know them. But those people are neo occultists.

Thanks for the reply. Just to give you some more detail about what produces my questions I am investigating this occult phenomena and attempting to keep an open mind about this.

One of the things I am trying to avoid is “confirmation bias”. Namely once you start seeing things such as symbolism in (music, movies) etc you tend to amplify the occurrences yet ignore the non-occurrences. I guess the question I am asking is if you look and listen to independent records / movies, Christian music and any other non-commercial productions is the symbolism still there?

Having said this there is clear evidence that of the existance of occult symbolism in the examples VigilantCitizen examines.

Individual members might have had some occult beliefs, but that wasn't reflected in their music, at least in my opinion. Especially when you compare them to other bands in the anarcho-punk scene at the time like Rudimentary Peni or Amebix; their music felt far to "mundane" in the sense of being of this world without a spiritual connection.

I agree. They were primarily political.

To answer justaman's question as to whether there are any occurrences of occult symbolism or imagery in other, say Christian, forms of entertainment , check out tobymac. I'm not drawing any conclusions but the symbolism is there.

The thing about symbolism (and why the focus on in is so meaningless, IMO) is different symbols can mean different things to different people.

The (in)famous "sign of the horns" hand gesture? Yes. There are satanic, occult uses. It's also used in places like Italy to ward against dark forces. And if you're a fan the university of Texas, you're rooting for your team.

Or let's that the pentagram. Again, in the modern era, it's often seen as satanic or occult. But in the historically? Some early Christian soldiers put the pentagram on their shield, to represent the five wounds of Christ. In medieval alchemy, it was used to represent God (representing the element of ether) being above the world (represented by the elements of earth, fire, air, and water). While all that stuff seems hokey from the perspective of a the modern understanding of the world... Once upon a time even the learned basically believed all things were made from basic elements. That's the entire reason why the inverted pentagram was seen as satanic; earth above God.

Or what about the Roman cross? It's not pretty much the symbol of Christianity... But would an Roman Citizen see it as such? Or would they see it as a symbol of torture and execution?
