The New Gnostics in Today’s Church

I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. (1 John 2:21)

The church is undergoing perhaps her final assault from within, as she has been beset with a new wave of Gnostics who have entered in.

What is Gnosticism? One definition of Gnosticism states:

Gnosticism was built on Greek philosophy that taught matter was evil and the Spirit was good. . . . So-called “Christian Gnostics” said since matter was evil, God could not really incarnate in a human body; He only appeared in human form and only appeared to suffer, but basically, it was an illusion. . . .

Prior to Christianity, the Gnostics taught that man is composed of body, soul, and spirit. The body and the soul are man’s earthly existence and were considered evil. Enclosed in man’s soul is the spirit, a divine substance of man. This “spirit” was asleep and ignorant and needed to be awakened. It could only be liberated by a special knowledge that would be later called “illumination.”1

The apostle Paul saw that Gnostic influences were coming into the church, and he addressed them in his epistles (Colossians 2:8-23, 1 Timothy 1:4, 2 Timothy 2:16-19, and Titus 1:10-16).

Paul was a Gnostic, Gnosticism is in his epistles all throughout.
Every book in the New Testament is "Gnostic". The term originated as a catholic pejorative against groups they didn't like.

John 1:1, Gnosticism in a nutshell.

Most of Christianity, including your own, teaches this, it just changes a few terms. Instead of 'demiurge' you call it "Satan", instead of 'illumination' (not a word they used), you call it "Born again".
"Born again" Christians are thought by themselves to posses both special knowledge that nobody else has and a select elite access to heaven, in the conception that everyone else is lost and "can't see the truth".
It requires belief in a man-god exclusively to gain this access.

You have a lot of lies in your presentation.

Your dishonesty, even after reading what the history is, shows how your religion has corrupted your morals and made you quite the liar.

Let me speak to the lie of Gnostic Christians hating matter.

I wrote this to refute the false notion that Gnostic Christians do not like matter and reality that the inquisitors propagated to justify their many murders of my religions originators. It shows that Christians should actually hate matter and not Gnostic Christians.

The Christian reality.
1 John 2:15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Gen 3; 17 Thou shalt not eat of it; cursed is the ground for thy sake; in toil shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.
-----------

The Gnostic Christian reality.
Gnostic Christian Jesus said, "Those who seek should not stop seeking until they find. When they find, they will be disturbed. When they are disturbed, they will marvel, and will reign over all.
[And after they have reigned they will rest.]"

"If those who attract you say, 'See, the Kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you.

If they say to you, 'It is under the earth,' then the fish of the sea will precede you.

Rather, the Kingdom of God is inside of you, and it is outside of you.

[Those who] become acquainted with [themselves] will find it; [and when you] become acquainted with yourselves, [you will understand that] it is you who are the sons of the living Father.

But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty."

As you can see from that quote, if we see God's kingdom all around us and inside of us, we cannot think that the world is anything but evolving perfection. Most just don't see it and live in poverty. Let me try to make you see the world the way I do.

Here is a mind exercise. Tell me what you see when you look around. The best that can possibly be, given our past history, or an ugly and imperfect world?

Candide.
"It is demonstrable that things cannot be otherwise than as they are; for as all things have been created for some end, they must necessarily be created for the best end.”

That means that we live in the best of all possible worlds, because it is the only possible world, given all the conditions at hand and the history that got us here. That is an irrefutable statement given entropy and the anthropic principle.

You do not know the truth.

Is it true that Yahweh/Jesus tortured King David's child for 6 days before finally murdering him?

Yes, your satanic god did that.

You can run from the truth but you cannot hide it.

I’ve only quoted from the article I linked to and the site the article came from is one that I trust for truth.

Sure, I know the truth. The truth is that we are all sinners..that we are destined for the lake of fire where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth by the holy God that created us. However, by the grace of that God, He sent His Son to take the punishment for our sins that whomsoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life...this is aka the Good News.

Where does it say that God tortured the king’s son? Or that He murdered him?

My God is not satanic..there is only one being that’s called that and its not Yahweh.

You have not even read the King David story, or most of the bible, or you have forgiven the prick you adore for his many crimes against humanity.

Your morals, like your god's, are satanic.

Just a little leaven...

Catholic Priest Believes Francis Chan Heading Into Catholic Church Based on Eucharistic Sermon
Francis Chan, author of Crazy Love, is one of the most popular authors and speakers within the evangelical church today. He has been the subject of a number of Lighthouse Trails articles based on his ecumenical activities as well as statements he made threatening that God will destroy those who challenge Christian leaders. Last week, Chan gave a sermon promoting the Catholic view of communion (i.e., the Eucharist), which led to several online responses, one of which was a Catholic priest who weighed in with a YouTube video* expressing his zeal and belief that Chan is about to convert to the Catholic faith.

Out of context Christianity pt.1
How we got to where we are today?
One can only be grounded in Scripture by reading the Bible chapter by chapter, book by book and understanding the overall meaning. You cannot understand the details until the overall meaning is first understood.. Today few are taught how to read or study devotionally, or theologically. They are not grounded in the core doctrines of Christianity which has them become open to being misled.
And this continues to be repeated and compound the already exiting problem. This next generation will be even more divorced from sound Bible teaching unless we turn it around. The devil’s emissaries are about changing Gods word so it is no longer is the truth, it becomes out of context Christianity. How did we get here?

Hi @Lisa,

I'm just briefly stopping by to bump your thread. This list is too long and, based upon your post of yesterday, growing. I can neither remember all of these criteria nor keep track of the danger signs and signals. Is it safe to say, in sum, that all churches except yours are probably deceived and the reason yours isn't is because you are its sole member and the only one who attends? Standby: here's a big smiley face :) and I will take your answer offline. Thanks.
I tried telling @Lisa that heaven would be lonely if her idea that "correct belief" is important for salvation. But she insisted there will be a multitude in heaven, depsite this glaring fact.
