Who knows? Maybe Muhammad got carried away with a too literal reading of this, from the notoriously sagacious if arguably errant Solomon ...

"There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number."
(Song of Solomon 6:8)

Excuse me for saying so, but yum lol!

It’s not like Solomon was following the commands of God..
Deuteronomy‬ ‭17:14, 17‬ ‭
When you enter the land which the LORD your God gives you, and you possess it and live in it, and you say, ‘I will set a king over me like all the nations who are around me,’

He shall not multiply wives for himself, or else his heart will turn away; nor shall he greatly increase silver and gold for himself.”
‭‭
And lo and behold that is what happened to Solomon..he had so many wife’s that they turned his heart away.

It's still a verse in our canon of scripture, and what a delicious way to be turned.

You are saying you’re a Christian now?

Its still being turned away from God and ends up in death...not so fun at all if you ask me.

How did you arrive at that peculiar conclusion, posed as question? It's just that, on those rare, in fact exceedingly rare, occassions they let me close to the pulpit, this is one of my favorite verses to quote.

You said..
emphasis mine
Understood. I've told you all along, even though you call yourself a Christian, and I don't question that, you dont have a copyright on either Jesus or the scriptures, and they are as much mine as yours, even if I don't understand them as well, though at times I can certainly quote them. The scriptures are (thankfully) in the public domain, and I am part of that public.

Why do you want to own them?
I don't own them, and neither do I want to own them, they are a part of world literature, as much mine as yours, available to the world's literate. Good grief, Charley Brown, or should I say argumentative Lucy? Is this bullshit going to go on for 20 more pages?

So you enjoy scripture as literature? And that’s why you like to quote it? I’m just trying to figure out why you care about scripture while not being a Christian.

Yes, that's close. I also know how to read, quote and compare a lot of what are considered the world's sacred literatures, plural, and have a collection of some oddities, like exotic butterflys in killing jars, from around the world, not just your and your colleagues' apparently favorite, Saudi Arabia. Want to hear some more? They relate to the topic of this thread and are not all written by the sagacious, arguably wayward, certainly libidinous and ever brilliant Solomon.

Lisa, please just stop it. You're always looking to sow discord and division which is NOT a Christian trait.

Lol, what are you talking about with Saudi Arabia?

So you think the Bible is like any other sacred literature that you can just quote and expect it to be right?

Jude‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭
Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.

2 Timothy 2:14
"Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers."

That scripture you have is not an incentive to argue about every issue the way you do in the way you do. Or, put another way:

"Never miss a good chance to shut up." -Will Rogers

Do you suffer from an at best five-minute memory? Do you think your favorite doppleganger, Muhammad, might enjoy an occasional, select reading from the Biblical Song of Solomon? I do. Thanks, @Robyn, but @Lisa has almost as many argably relevant quotations in her quiver as Joan of Arc, and is almost as fun.
You aren’t the only one I’m talking to tonight..

I have no idea what muhammad might like other than a 9 year old and sex slaves...

You know . . . The least you can do is be vaguely respectful. Which WWJD card did you swipe that quote from?
