...lived in a state where DST is not honored for a number of years.... never even noticed anything majorly different...
...except I did have to be mindful of who I was calling at what hour, in which state.... as my job required me to be in contact with people across the USA.... so time zones were a factor also... not against those... (but some of the dividing lines are kinda dumb)...
....so... even though my clock never changed, I had to do the 'mental math' of the hour of the person I was calling.... which was odd...
...I'm like you. It's an old idea which should be retired.... but the House of Representatives is too busy 'peaching...

This thread is about Daylight "saving" time. Your thoughts and opinions please. If you want to vent or express your thoughts, feelings, etc please do! Thank you.
I personally wish it didn't exist. I hate how my body and mind have to play catch up every 6 months. It really irritates me. In my opinion It would be nice if they would just leave the time alone :-(

I think it does adversely affect those prone to SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Already feeling a bit melancholy and it's not even December yet! I don't care for the Christmas season generally.

Oh dang the -ers (october, november, december), thank God i'm too busy this year to be too much affected for the SAD, but the melancholy is adding up with things happening here and its all too awkward.

My country didn't implemented daylight saving time this year, most people here believe this is a good thing.

I see what you're saying. Every six months the time changes across time zones which creates new times that are hard to keep track of. I never thought about that but that's crazy. What a drag :( If time was left alone then it would be much easier to remember the time in different states. Including Arizona and Hawaii.

Good point Dalit, it DOES affect them adversely. You go from a slightly longer day to suddenly a much shorter day from one day to the next. One gets more accustomed to gradual change but suddenly? It's not good for the mind.

It's really good Anderson, that you're too busy to focus on the sadness. I'm doing the same. Gets the mind off the unpleasant that can get overwhelming. Things are way out of hand and one can't help but feel for those who are in certain situations.

That is GREAT that your country didn't jump on the crazy wagon. I'm sooooo jealous of you, in a good way ;)
I really hope it stays that way.

I think we just all just have the same 24 hour period across the globe. So what if at 11 am where I am at is dark and for another person it is light. It is still the same point in time really. Honestly, time is somewhat of a human construct or at least the representation of it is.

I never would have thought about this, very interesting :) I really wonder what it would be like

I don't mind losing an hour of sleep in the spring. It's no worse than flying ahead one time zone. But standard time- fuck that. It gets dark so damn early and then the cold sets in. Might as well put me on suicide watch during the winter.
Oh no Lurker that's terrible. See I hate losing that hour too because instead of it getting dark at 5 it would get dark at 6 and it makes more sense. When I was around 13 I used to experience SAD and I was too young to really know about this affliction, I just knew that I would feel overwhelmingly sad whenever the says got shorter, the dark at 5 thing got me feeling it more. Anyway I am VERY happy I grew out of it and don't experience it anymore.
I have gotten a little of the bear mentality, I guess it's human "hibernating" time ;) Just staying in after a day of activity reading, getting on here, baking, enjoying soups and stews, indoor activities, being a little lazy 'cause yeah it's cold and dark and thinking it's just a season and it'll go by fast really helps :) I guess it's different where the climate is freezing but we're still in similar circumstances where we gotta "hibernate" a little bit. Sometimes I think that if it weren't for this urban life then we would probably be sleeping in more in the winter months.
