While I'm at it... let's talk about the homeless youth. I've known so many kids who were homeless and they ALL lived downtown in the old market... sleeping in alleyways and on playgrounds. This is Omaha, NE. This is the home of the Franklin Scandal. Yes... was still happening when I was younger. These kids went to the all night, all ages clubs. These kids went home with strangers. One in particular told me he had "sex in a bathtub full of blood". I just... didn't believe him at the time. I DATED HIM!!! Same kid burned my initial into his stomach with a branding iron. Sound crazy? Yeah... it is. I've got crazier stories than that. (But not much, thankfully.) Anyways... this is how many of the youth are picked up. Watched "Boys for Sale"?

I

I see you are either VERY VERY young or privileged and don't know much about the misfortunes of adult life in this wicked world. Let me enlighten you.

Yes people either lose their jobs, become disabled, their rent goes up too much to afford it and they have no one to help them so they fend for themselves by buying some kind of shelter.

People that are drug addicts have have it rough since childhood and have emotional and psychological problems brought on by trauma, abuse or neglect or a combination of the three. NOT EVERYONE IS STRONG LIKE YOU DEAR, just because you're a fortunate one that managed to survive and not fall into drugs does not mean EVERYONE else is LIKE YOU.

I see you are a bit callous and lack empathy for other people's pains and misfortunes. I tried to enlighten you but I'm not hoping for much.
How young do you think I could be to have the opinions I do? What do you mean by privileged?

Are people ever responsible for their homelessness or is it always something that is out of a persons control? You mention drug addicts having it rough, sweetie but lots of people have it rough and don’t resort to drugs or alcohol to make it through their life. I don’t know of anyone who hasn’t had a hard time in life, honestly.

I do have empathy and compassion for people but I don’t see how what we are doing now to “help” people is a compassionate act. All it seems like it does is enables people to continue in self destructive acts. Allowing people to break the law..by loitering on sidewalks..is helping in the breakdown of society. It’s only making a bad problem worse..I don’t understand why anyone could see it as good.

p.s....I’m only strong because of God..otherwise I was very weak and have known a great amount of pain in my life.

A lot of the time it's out of a person's control. If the rent was 1200 and it suddenly goes up 1600 then what are the options? If all the rents are going up but not the wages? The poor and low income people are the ones that are being affected by this. It's a VERY BAD thing that no one teaches the poor to $ave $ave $ave. Whoever wants to survive, you must start saving as soon as you start working and have at LEAST 10,000 in savings. A "survival fund" DOES ANYONE TEACH THIS? in high school?? Your parents? at work? on tv? ANYWHERE?? Some people just survive all their lives with very little because of their skills or because that's how they grew up. Not EVERYONE has the privilege of going to school to get a better paying job. Everyone is taught to take out loans, credit cards and to be IN DEBT. Refute this.
Some people are born with tools to help them cope and survive and some don't, some are learned and some people need A HAND. We all depend on God but not everyone acknowledges this. Some people depend on emotional and psychological help MORE than others.

I do have empathy and compassion for people but I don’t see how what we are doing now to “help” people is a compassionate act. All it seems like it does is enables people to continue in self destructive acts. Allowing people to break the law..by loitering on sidewalks..is helping in the breakdown of society. Some people are willing to work, some are too damaged and stuck in their cycles of uselessness. Who knows who has what. Some people's light bulbs don't come on, some people need other's ideas, everyone is different. Loitering is not nice, but some people are so focused on their traumas they don't see how bad it's affecting them and others. Too focused on their pain and suffering. You can lead a horse to water and hopefully he'll drink.
p.s....I’m only strong because of God..otherwise I was very weak and have known a great amount of pain in my life.
This is a VERY GOOD point and I agree with this. I'm happy you have God in your life. Yes God does make one stronger. I'm sorry to hear you've had a lot of pain and I guess NO ONE is exempt. We all have gone through many a painful event but the sad reality is that some people are not willing to let God into their lives and see how much nicer it is to have a rock to lean on in times of distress. Whether it's pride, total ignorance or an unwilling spirit, it's a pity they're denying themselves of the greatest source of strength. You are seeing for your self how bad it is to not know God and to not be close to Him.

Sure...people could be homeless because of rents..some people just don’t know how to handle money very well either which could also could contribute to their money problems.

Or...like I keep saying is that most of the homeless are drug addicts or alcoholics. I think most of them are checked out to life and are just surviving for their next drink or drug of choice and I don’t think it has to be a bad life that got them there ...could be they were drugging or drinking with friends and got caught up in it.

No one is exempt from problems or pain...but you can make decisions on how you’ll deal with it. For me...I chose God and I don’t want to give Him up to go back to all that..He keeps me whole. I know a man who is an alcoholic and he doesn’t want to have God as a crutch...but doesn’t mind the alcohol..I guess? I think for many....its just too hard to say yes, I am the bad person God says I am, I am a sinner in need of a savior. They would rather be in ‘control’ and handle things themselves rather than humbling themselves before God.

So all these unborn babies Lisa wants to save no longer matter when they are a living breathing human being struggling and going through hardships. Sad
I still feel bad for them..just because I don’t think the way homelessness is handled is right, doesn’t mean that I’m unfeeling. Everyone has troubles, problems and not everyone copes by taking drugs and hitting the bottle.....though it does seem more and more people nowadays are going that route. Perhaps the legalization of drugs is having a negative affect in that it downplays the problems with taking drugs and elevates it to a healthy alternative when its not.

It‘s still wrong to kill an unborn human being..they should have every chance at life like the rest of us. Why shouldn’t I want them to have a life..what really did they do to be given a death sentence but be conceived? We don’t even kill people on death row as fast as we can kill an unborn.

I think its like the trans movement...people think that by being the opposite sex that will make them happy and people think that killing the baby will make them happy...they are both wrong. There are consequences to those actions, consequences not often talked about so that people will behave a certain way so that society can be changed, become more lawless.

Who taught them how to handle money? Some have learned while some haven't maybe some are mentally ill, maybe some have ADHD or some kind of mental impairment but yet they're expected to function like there's nothing wrong with them or "normal". I have heard so many stories of people that could barely cover the rent when greedy investors/landlords decided it was time to charge several hundreds More all of a sudden.
Also SO MANY PEOPLE becoming homeless as a result of natural disasters. When you lose EVERYTHING in a matter of minutes, some didn't get to save so much to get them out of the horrible sudden loss of housing.

If you could just stop complaining about these tortured souls it would be nice. Maybe you could become a counselor and help?

Well you're smart and some unfortunately, are not. Their parents may have never taught them about God so they grew up thinking nothing of spiritual matters. If parents don't instill a love and respect of God and they were the authority figures, a lot of the time these children don't care for God when they grow up.They come to know about God when a significant event happens in their lives.

Yes the legalization of drugs is an evil thing under the guise of being "helpful" to those with illnesses or pains.

I've seen the INCREDIBLE homeless epidemic in the states, how the streets of San Fran, Los Angeles and Washington DC is filled with people who cant pay the skyrocketing rents anymore, gets laied off or sick and gets evicted. I wonder if they are doing this as another step to bring in their New World Order?

They DO want to part the classes between rich and poor so considering they want us all as dumb, small goblings who only can work and not think, while they have beauty, great homes and health, it's not impossible.

Yeah, it's terrible.
Homeless families. They are whole families working jobs with just enough to get to work.
Homeless veterans. Every unnecessary war spills some out on the street.
Homeless children. This should never happen, but it has for the longest.
Mentally ill people walking around from county to county talking to unseen demons they scream at...
The homeless could easily be housed if we realized how terrible life is on the street.

The difference between us in this is you think that no one is to blame for their homelessness, it’s always someone or something else’s fault and I think people are mostly to blame for their homelessness.

Does where the blame falls matter? They're still homeless and need help. But since they brought it on themselves- fuck em.

No, all I have ever said is that the homeless are mostly drug addicts/alcoholics...and that we don’t help them by letting them get away with being homeless...that just brings out more trouble and reports from the cities that have a huge homeless problem bear this out.

Do you think it's possible that many became alcoholic/drug addict after losing everything and having nothing left to live for? Also, do you have any solutions? Do you think just the act of being homeless should be a crime?

No, I think most were always drug addicts/alcoholics.

I don’t think the homeless should be allowed to break the law because they are homeless, like I said it brings with it other worse problems like crime and disease.

Looks like they are gonna try something different and see if that helps..

Las Vegas becomes first major city to make it a crime to sleep or camp out on the streets as it moves to tackle the homeless crisis blighting cities across America

And you support this? How is someone going to know if space is available? How will they get there? How will they afford a $1000 fine for not being able to get there even if the knew space was available?

What law is being broken just from being homeless?

I support following the laws, that’s why we have them. I’m interested to see how this plays out...I bet their homeless problem goes away and they go to cities that will let them live how they want...

There is no loitering in most cities. And you can’t sleep on the sidewalks. There are no free rides in life and the homeless are trying to make it so. It’s not a bad thing to work for a living...but it is bad for people to do drugs and be alcoholics.

I understand people really want to help those people but I don’t think it’s helpful to let them do what they want when it’s breaking the law and when it doesn’t help them become better, we are then just enabling them. it also breaks down society which we are seeing. Brings in more crime and disease..letting them live on the streets in their tents is not the solution to the problem. Giving drug addicts free needles is not the solution.

No, you support creating new laws to criminalize more people.
No I support the laws that say you can’t live on the sidewalk..maybe when they don’t have a free pass they will try to help themselves? We will have to wait and see how this Las Vegas thing pans out....if they can stick with it anyway.
