When Washington state citizens voted down a new stadium initiative TWICE, state legislature pushed it through anyways down in Olympia. The city, county and state still owed half a billion on the Kingdome and both Century Link and Safeco fields went half a billion over budget so all together the taxpayers were stuck with like a $3 billion price tag for 2 stadiums they voted down. Twice. To help accomplish this obscene graft of public finds, Paul Allen (only one of the richest men in the world) forged an official NFL "study" which concluded that if the city of Seattle didn't foot the bill for a new stadium, the league would re-locate the team. Of course the report was a fake but that didnt stop lil Paully from coercing the city & county to foot the bill for this billionaires vanity project. Is it me or is there something about the unfinished pyramid stand that has a resonance with $1 notes?!

Paul G. Allen (Microsoft co-founder) put $130 M into the stadium. I wonder if the trapezoid stand might have been built with something ritualistic in mind?
This is after the city approved $100 million in funds to renovate Key Arena where the Supersonics played in what the NBA termed a lifetime commitment. A decade or so later the NBA demanded more "improvements" and team bounced to OKC. The arena sits there with no NBA franchise to utilize it while the city plots to build a new, multi-use facility for their proposed NBA & NHL teams.
