I have heard many say that the LBGT movement is the same as the civil rights movements that ppl of color faced in history and today.

What do you think?

Well, i'm not from the US, but I think that back then black people were fighting for rights such as voting, begone with diferente toilets and stuff... Now what I see are gay rights activists fighting for the rights of 8 years old kids change their sex and other stuff...

Oh, there is a gym franchise here known as SmartFit, the gay men there practice something called "Banheirão" that is a huge bathroom orgy after the training. When a gym called them out to stop this they said this was homophobia so yeah, at least here gay activists are fighting for the very basic human need of bathroom homoerotic orgies.

Its in portuguese but I guess you guys can autotranslate it.

So, based on this, I say that gay activism isn't the same thing as the civil rights movement from yore

I completely agree. I think that we all have struggles that we go through. I will not take away from the LBGT struggle, but to compare it to being treated poorly for your skin tone is a stretch.

If you are gay and you walk into a room there is a good chance that ppl will not know who you sleep with.

If I walk into a room everyone will know that I am black, I cannot hide it.

I feel that ppl don't have to know who you sleep with, unless you want them to lol
This is why I hate it when sexual orientation is conflated with ethnicity or race. With the former discrimination is based on a behaviour. There is still no solid scientific evidence to support that homosexuality is genetic so people won't know unless you either make it obvious or you tell them directly. But in the case of the latter, skin colour is not something you can just "switch off". It's an obvious genetic marker.

There's a lot of cases where sexuality can be known without screaming "I'm gay".

Your company has a Christmas party and tells you to bring your signifficant other. If you're gay, everyone is going to know that... And if you are gay, why shouldn't you be able to enjoy a Christmas party with the person you love like anyone else? If you're trans, almost everyone is going to know, unless you're lucky and can pass... Which is easier for transmen than transwomen.

I don't think that LGBT rights are the exact same as civil rights... But I still think it should be something people fight for. Equality is important.

Kellogg’s new ‘All Together’ cereal celebrates LGBTQ youth
The cereal puts six of your favorite cereals together, just like L, G, B, T, Q people and allies.

By Alex Bollinger Friday, October 18, 2019

Kellogg’s released an LGBTQ cereal yesterday on Spirit Day that will raise money for LGBTQ advocacy.

The cereal is called All Together Cereal and the big box contains smaller boxes of Corn Flakes, Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Frosted Mini Wheats, Raisin Bran, and Rice Krispies. They’re all together… just like the L, G, B, T, and Q and allies are all together.

All the mascots of those cereals appear on the box together too, celebrating their diversity.

Kellogg’s donated $50,000 to GLAAD to support their LGBTQ advocacy.

“We are proud to partner with Kellogg’s again this year to help extend the important message of Spirit Day to households across the country,” said John McCourt of GLAAD.

“The All Together cereal encompasses the values of diversity, equality, and solidarity that Spirit Day is all about, and we hope that LGBTQ youth everywhere receive the messages loud and clear.”

A box of All Together cereal costs $19.99 and is available on the Kellogg’s website.

Could be a metaphor..they are just co-existing since they are just packaged separately in the same box. If they were really all together, the cereal would be mixed together in the box, haha!

I think they are wanting their civil rights from Christians...they seem to get pretty upset at them, to the point they close down a fast food chain? Btw, the chik fil a’s around here are always busy, my son said that when he was there last night at 9, the drive thru was around the building..but then I’ve never seen it any different during the day.

The first UK branch of a popular American chicken restaurant is set to close following a backlash over its owner's stance on LGBT rights.

My point is not that they don't struggle or have needs.

My point is that sexual preference is not he same as race, therefore our struggles should not be lumped together or compared.

I agree with you, equality is important and we all deserve to be treated fairly.

Yes christians have hurt a lot of ppl and made an equal amount of people feel judged (especially those perceived as sexually deviant)

That is a very good point

Not the point I was making. What hurt have Christians caused exactly? I can see where people would feel judged by the gospel..you first have to understand that you’re a sinner.

Funny, the article stated that Chik Fil A is struggling to expand in Anerica. I have one opening in front of my neighborhood in a few months. There is also like 6 more within a ten mile radius. 5 of which opened in the last few years.
