You didn't have to mention torture-- it is a given.
Why is it a given? I don’t like to assume. If your version of god is a sadist, I’ll keep that in mind from now on.

More importantly, though, why would you put someone in heaven against his will?
against whose will? I don’t understand.

the purpose is just to lay claim over every piece of the entire world, go to war for it, then eat and consume all resources and mindlessly breed like a disease. then have your useless godforsaken children do it also.

Why is it that no one can handle the blunt facts
That's your decision... eternal separation, that is.

No answer for this?

Afraid it would overshadow your (perceived) martyrdom?
Your question is based on a false premise because it’s not anyone’s will to be tortured, it’s your silly religion that wants it. If some masochist really wanted to be tortured forever then I guess I wouldn’t stop the person. Not my kinda picnic but whatever floats your boat. LOL

You're avoiding the question, and applying your perception of "torture" to my words (which I clarified).

Back up to your original question-- before I came along... because this has nothing to do with me. This is your hypothetical-- I'm simply asking why you would do it.
If God told you "you believed, so you are saved, and you're free to take your place in heaven, but I am giving you the choice for someone else to take your place in heaven instead"
You already said you would let someone else take your place. So why would you send someone to heaven against his will?

Anyone care to answer this? Your answer is not for my sake, it's an Answer for yourself- internally.

Your desire for more will result in less.
I got to page 6 and saw no one seemed to answer this directly and I'm not sure why. Maybe someone in the last 4 pages did but up to page 6 no one has and I just couldn't get thru the rest of the thread waiting to see if someone directly answered.

So the question as I see it is, would I be willing to hand over my Eternal life to someone that is destined for Hell.

My answer is yes I would. I look at my Father who is Lost and going to Hell if he were to die today and my heart absolutely breaks thinking about that.

I know my mother is in Heaven right now, so because I love my mother and father so much I would give up my place in Heaven and take his place in Hell so they could be together again.

I feel that way for my wife and children as well, I would much rather I suffer forever if that means one of them gets out of Hell.

I would like to think I would feel the identical way for strangers or even those whom we think are horrible people like murderers and rapists but the fact is I would have much trepidation in saying I could do it for them but I have a heart to want to be able to...

Thankfully I don't ever have to worry about that because God Himself came to Earth lived perfectly and gave up His life so that anyone who believes on Him for Salvation can inherit Eternal life.

I am praying one day my Father turns to Christ and gets Born Again so he can rejoice with Jesus with the rest of his family...

Praying for him - my great uncle became a Christian after a lifetime of evolution and atheism. One day, we’ll into his 80’s, he was at my parents house and Dad had been copying an individual VHS onto DVD of Prof A.E. Wilder-Smith discussing information theory and DNA and my great uncle suddenly turned round and said “it’s all true!”...

He had a peace and joy about him that he had never shown before, and went to be with the Lord unexpectedly in his sleep just a few weeks later.

Thanks for sharing and for praying brother, it is appreciated it! And speaking of the information theory, I was just teaching about that to my Sunday School class a few weeks ago, well I was teaching about Shannon's Mathematical Theory of Communication and DNA which I assume is the same basic thing. We had a Youth Retreat in July and my Pastor and I were speaking about the Teenage class which I was assistant teacher for the past year and during the conversation we spoke about how many of the Youth now a days have fallen from their Faith once they get into College and enter the Work Force.

And we discussed that 2 of the main reasons is because one they never had a real true Spiritual Experience with Christ and two because they have not been equipped to be able to answer some of the hard questions posed to them via professors and unbelievers when they get out on their own. So we had the main teachers at our Church step down and so I was blessed enough to be able to be given the opportunity to step up and be the teacher for the Teens and to become a Youth Leader with my wife.

So a massive focus of the class is to teach them about things and give them an understanding that they havent learned yet about the deeper ideologies and realities in the Bible and one of the first things we taught on was Evolution. I had learned that Evolution was one of the most mentioned reasons in studies as to why kids end up leaving their Faith, they have no defense of it or a have an understanding of how Science and the Bible dont actually conflict. So that is why I taught them how DNA proves there is a Creator and disproves the idea of Macro Evolution as the Communication Theory states that all Noise degrades the Original Message and that the idea of Mutations "helping" DNA is impossible. All Mutations are noise and DNA is a Language or a System of Communications and via REAL Science, which is to take observable things and make conclusions based on what we observe, every single System of Communication has 100% been created by something with intelligence. Therefore we can conclude with 100% certainty that DNA has an intelligent designer aka God.

The class has been amazing and what I really love is that the kids are so much more into the studies than previously before, they are much more engaged and can really see the gears turning in their minds to understand, reflect and think about the subjects. It has even inspired 2 of them to start studying the Bible or at least read the Bible together from the beginning! God has been moving greatly and I am just in awe of it all!

Anyways, I am so thankful to hear that your Uncle was saved and I still believe that one day my Father will proclaim Christ as his personal Lord and Savior!!!

What made my uncle suddenly “see it” was how it was not only the fact that DNA encoded information but that that information could be decoded and interpreted via RNA into proteins.

Chance simply cannot produce language conventions so literally every cell in our bodies declare that there is a creator!

Maybe I'm not understanding your question. Whose will are you talking about? Let's say that in this scenario you aren't even told who is taking your place. It's an anonymous person of god's choosing, a person who doesn't want to be tortured. Would you do it?

This is good, an actual answer!! However what if you aren't allowed to know who it will be?

so far only two plus yourself:
@Todd said yes
@Red Sky at Morning said probably not

I could be wrong, but @elsbet seems to have implied a big "NOPE!" LOL

Your question put me in mind of some of the words to this song - “How much do you think you are worth, boy?”

Here are the first four lines of that song:
Is a rich man worth more than a poor man? [Nope.]
A stranger worth less than a friend? [Nope.]
Is a baby worth more than an old man? [Nope.]
Your beginning worth more than your end? [YES actually]*

*Many people do not place enough value or trust upon that which is intuited as good, AKA the conscience which is considered a gift from God, correct?

I'm sure you would agree that atheists tend to mistrust their conscience because their own pessimism leads them to deny the value and integrity of their earthly human experience, and this belief is why they might focus on all of the negative things in the world, which leads them to become more and more convinced of humankind's basic unworthiness. This belief in unworthiness always ends up reinforcing an inner contempt for the self, which then leads them to mistrust their inner conscience even more so, which completes the cycle becoming a self-reinforcing feedback loop.

You can obviously see this very same pattern of thought represented within religion, it's just wrapped up in a different package/flavoring. Just pick your flavor, the medicine is the same.

This expands on what I mentioned earlier about inner mistrust of mind and body.

I love the lyrics to that song...

How much do you think you are worth boy?
Graham Kendrick, Paid on the Nail

Is a rich man worth more than a poor man?
A stranger worth less than a friend?
Is a baby worth more than an old man?
Your beginning worth more than your end?

Is a president worth more than his assassin?
Does your value decrease with your crime?
Like when Christ took the place of Barabbas
Would you say he was wasting his time?

Well, how much do you think you are worth, boy?
Will anyone stand up and say?
Would you say that a man is worth nothing
Until someone is willing to pay?

I suppose that you think you matter
Well, how much do you matter to whom?
It's much easier at night when with friends and bright lights
Than much later alone in your room

Do you think they'll miss one in a billion
When you finish this old human race?
Does it really make much of a difference
When your friends have forgotten your face?

If you heard that your life had been valued
That a price had been paid on the nail
Would you ask what was traded,
How much and who paid it
Who was He and what was His name?

If you heard that His name was called Jesus
Would you say that the price was too dear?
Held to the cross not by nails but by love
It was you broke His heart, not the spear!

Would you say you are worth what it cost Him?
You say 'no', but the price stays the same.
If it don't make you cry, laugh it off, pass Him by,
But just remember the day when you throw it away
That He paid what He thought you were worth.

How much do you think He is worth, boy?
Will anyone stand up and say?
Tell me, what are you willing to give Him
In return for the price that He paid?

1 Peter 3

18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.

@Faker He-Man

I have absolutely no idea how long any of us have left, or if our expected time here may be cut suddenly short. Now might be a good day to reconsider Jesus.

It's always funny when you can't tell if a cartoon is pro-religion or anti-religion without knowing the source LOL
