Israel’s First Female Sharia Judge Sworn In
thetower.org/4969oc-israels-first-female-sharia-judge-sworn-in/

Israel has appointed the ever first female judge (Qadi) to the Muslim Sharia Courts.

Hana Khatib, an expert in Sharia law from Tamra in the lower Galilee, was sworn in Monday at the President’s residence with four other new judges.

“This is a really big victory, and it really shows how the courts can support equality for women,” Khatib said.

President Reuven Rivlin said that Khatib’s appointment was a “testament to the positive changes in the status of women,” and expressed hope that the appointment “will be the first of many.”

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked said “we are shattering another glass ceiling,” and stressed the importance of “sending a message to girls everywhere to go, invest, study, and excel.”

Following a written exam and a selection process conducted by the Justice Ministry’s Committee to Elect Sharia Judges, Khatib was unanimously appointed on 25 April by a nine member panel that includes the Justice Minister, three Knesset members (two of whom must be Muslim), two Israeli Bar Association members (both of whom must be Muslims) and three sitting Sharia court judges.

Sharia courts in Israel deal with personal status issues for the Muslim community, such as marriage, divorce, conversion and inheritance. They have existed since Ottoman times and were recognized by the State of Israel in 1948. In 1961, the Knesset integrated the Sharia courts into Israel’s judicial system. There are nine Sharia courts in Israel, including two new courts in the cities of Taybeh and Sakhnin.

Clearly, Israel's attempt at an apartheid state is a failure. Maybe it's the Arab members of the Knesset, or the Arab officers in the military and police forces. Maybe it's the Arab judges, diplomats, members of cabinet, or other public and bureaucratic positions throughout the Jewish state. Who knows?

I wonder how many female judges there are in Jewish orthodox courts in, say, Iran. Or how many Jewish members of parliament Qatar has.

Also selecting a female Qadi is not a big deal...there are plenty in muslim countries.

Iran's Jews: It's Our Home And We Plan To Stay

Now That There's a Sanhedrin, Who Needs the Supreme Court
One year after a new assembly of Torah scholars was established, the esteemed Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz has become its president.

Netanyahu reported to say legal system based on Talmud
Ultra-Orthodox member of the Likud party also says PM told him Israel would officially adopt Hebrew calendar

Seriously, the issue probably isn't so much about Sharia courts in Israel, but the establishment of more Talmudic courts following Talmudic law. And there goes your "secularism" right out the window...What's next, democracy?

And Thunderian, I like you-nothing personal. But, Stephen Harper was a total ultra-zionist lapdog for which I'm sure he was handsomely rewarded. But, the USA has the same problems so, oh well... (<>..<>)

Harper shows you don’t have to be Jewish to be a Zionist: Marmur
Prime Minister Stephen Harper is proof that you don’t have to be Jewish to be a Zionist.

i don't think the status of israel should be your primary concern right now considering the type of shit you're posting ie

That's none of your business, don't worry about what I choose to concern myself with. That is NOT up to you for you to decide. Welcome to iggy, where you no longer exist and neither does your opinion, at least not to me.

Yes, let's ignore everything Israel does on daily basis just because they appointed a female judge. This solved all our issues as Palestinians. /s

They did appoint a female judge, however, this will not and should not hide the fact that Israel also discriminates against Arab Israelis (I actually prefer calling them Palestinians of 1948 but whatever) in every way. They are treated as second class citizens and are constantly harassed and constantly stopped at checkpoints. Just go to any Arab Israeli village and you will see what I mean.

Edit: Also, please refer back to AspiringSoul's post regarding the demographics. If there were 20% Jews living in any Arab country then they would have every right to their own judges and courts but this is not the case. Historically, Jews never had any issue living here in the Middle East, it is only after the establishment of Israel that all this is happening.

You used to be a Christian, then an anti-Zionist, the pretended to be multiple different posters and made multiple different sock-accounts, then an atheist, then a witch, then maybe a Christian, and now a Zionist.

Your opinion or anything you say holds absolutely no water. I think logical and rational people would rather listen to screeching chalkboards than hear anything come out of your mouth.

The only reason they would put a female Arab judge up in one of the courts in Israel is to try to downplay their horrible international image. They know times are changing and that they don't have long before this whole Zionist charade ends. Facts remain that Israel is one of the most hated countries in the world.

It's similar to what Pharaoh did to Moses's(pbuh) people. Pharaoh would every now and then bring in a few Israelites into his fold offering them riches in exchange for their service. They would then spy on the slaves and report back to Pharaoh on any kind of suspicious or "treasonous" activity. Instead, now the Jews are doing it to others. How ironic lol.
