I'm interested to see what you have to say about this on this forum, also, how is Christianity not Nihilistic?
How is Christianity nihilistic? God says that people are worth dying for because He died for all, while we were yet sinners, we weren’t good people that He died for us but evil.

I think the purpose of life in Christianity is trusting God. Trust that there is a God, trust that what He says about life is true. Trust that He can do all things and that nothing is impossible for Him. Trust that He can change you and use you for His purposes. Trust that He cares for you and will help you. Lots of trust for people with trust issues...

Strange that this popped up in my YouTube feed a few moments ago...

Why does he stop his thinking with condescension of those with different world-views? How does this separate him from anyone else? I don't think he wishes to examine his own world-view, which is something that always ends up being psychologically projected upon others.

Question for anyone: If God told you "you believed, so you are saved, and you're free to take your place in heaven, but I am giving you the choice for someone else to take your place in heaven instead"

In this purely hypothetical scenario, what is your answer?

It’s a tough one as to answer it altruistically would be to deny the nature of redemption. As Jesus paid the price for the sins of the whole world, this wouldn’t really fly. On the other hand, Christians who DO care about people who presently do not believe often do what they can (e.g. interacting with those hostile to Christianity on forums etc).

One of the reasons many of us carry on is because there was a time we remember well when we were “enemies of God” and had someone who could be bothered to try to reach out to us.

The only thing I'd change is that Satan and his minions aren't 'God' on earth as they don't have any real power, only the power that we give them to influence our lives. I'd argue they are tireless deceivers who put obstacles down the path of righteousness, discourage us from getting to know our Creator by distracting us with the empty and trivial matters, pleasures and experiences of this world.
Agreed, hence the reason I used the term "god" with a little "g". He is not the supreme God and creator of the world. Paul refers to this idea in 2 Corinthians 4:4.

How did you built the trust you have in god being a good god given his genocidal ways?

What makes you think a genocidal god is worthy of your love?

Regards
DL
God is not genocidal. Only someone who thinks every word in the Bible is the literal word of God would think he is genocidal.

also, why would you not answer altruistically? I don't understand. It's meant to be hypothetical.

Now zoom back a bit more. What is the purpose of all of that?
You've basically only tackled the world's aspect of existence, which is only temporary.
The purpose of life is that God is love and created life so he could share that love. He allowed creation to fall temporarily so that in the ages to come we would never doubt that he alone is worthy to be in control. Becuase we will always retain the memory of the fallen world we will never again be tempted to doubt God's goodness or challenge his sovereignty.

Btw - I would like to think I would be the person to allow someone else to take my place but I suspect that no human being faced with these two polar opposite choices would be able to act against their own eternal best interests.

P.s. what prompts your interest in this hypothetical question @Faker He-Man ?
