Christians judge god as good. Gnostic Christians judge god as evil. Which religion is correct?

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” Richard Dawkins.

I say shame on all Christians for not judging justly and being morally corrupt.
This is definitely a very deeply historically routed dilemma between Jews, proto-Christians, proto-Gnostics and Atheists. Practically once Jesus turned up on the scene this notion started becoming quite vocal among some sects, it's fascinating.
The Tanakh ("Old Testament") is certainly filled with a lot of strange and often absurd things.

The Dawkins quote is amusing because he's obviously talking to Christians here but it's very unlikely he's ever studied Judaism. The funny thing about that is with the buzzword of "antisemitism" rampant everywhere these days, a comment like this is taken at face value whereas Jews are the ones that actually spend their lifetimes meditating very deeply on the OT and even have the key body of literature known as Midrash which comments on the said OT.

The weird paradox I notice is that Jews spend more time with the OT and tend to be far deeper thinkers. Where as Christians tend to place the NT as highest authority yet act themselves more like the "god of the OT".

Yes, they are religious, but not born again believers. Most people are religious, especially the Catholic's, but few are Godly by Spiritual rebirth. Most act out religion as if they are actors in a play, reading of a script. That is where the word hypocrite comes from, Actors on a stage.

Upon further thinking, I was stumped. Why are there even Gnostic Christians? No offense, it's just that it doesn't make any sense.
Christ is Yahweh's son. Jesus is one who came to redeem us. To give us ALL a chance to live forever. God put the offering for OUR benefit, Jesus stepped up and did it.
If you're daring enough to judge God with imperfect eyes mind and soul, then are you worthy of believing in Jesus Christ because when he was here on earth, it was his Father's righteousness and right to rule that he advocated for?
YOU CANNOT separate the two as they are both UNITED in Mind and Purpose. John 17:20,21
Jesus' words are so true that no one comes to the Father Except through him (Jesus). John 14:6
In other words how can you just believe in the son and not the Father? When they have both worked with each other, think alike and have the same purpose???
Plus Jesus was ALL against ANYTHING that was against his Father. If you're against Jesus' Father, what chance do you have of having Jesus' approval or God's?
Learn to differentiate ANYTHING that this world puts in front of you. Not everything is God approved or Jesus' approved. It does matter.

At the end of the day it's about how much you really know God, how much you want to be his friend and please him and about how much you hate what is bad. Hate anything that is anti-Yahweh and anti-Christ.

Christians shot themselves in the foot by reversing much of the Jewish thinking.

They took decent precepts and made them immoral. Like the notion that it is evil to seek knowledge.

Midrash, I agree, makes a huge difference.

Without lies and hypocrisy, there would not be a Christianity.

Do you really think a Jesus type would use genocide on us the way his prick of a father did?

Why do you idol worship a genocidal god who condemned you without a just cause?

What is a Jesus type?
Why do you idol worship a genocidal god who condemned you without a just cause?
I don't idol worship because God himself does not approve of it but I do worship the Almighty because I see beyond what the devil has put in front of us. I see God's goodness, the devil's badness disguised as "good". I see what God has done for us and what He will do.It all makes sense. I am not condemned, Jesus' ransom made that go away.

"I am not condemned, Jesus' ransom made that go away. "

Only if you ignore your bible and take a satanic way to get around your unjust condemnation in the first place.

When you do as you do here, you show what a pathetic piece of immoral human garbage you are.

On Jesus dying for you.

You have swallowed a lie and don’t care how evil you make Jesus to keep your feel good get out of hell free card.

It is a lie, first and foremost because, like it or not, having another innocent person suffer or die for the wrongs you have done, --- so that you might escape responsibility for having done them, --- is immoral. To abdicate your personal responsibility for your actions or use a scapegoat is immoral.

You also have to ignore what Jesus, as a Jewish Rabbi, would have taught his people.

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Deuteronomy 24:16 (ESV) "Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.

Psa 49;7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

There is no way that you would teach your children to use a scapegoat to escape their just punishments and here you are doing just that.

Jesus is just a smidge less immoral than his demiurge genocidal father, and here you are trying to put him as low in moral fibre as Yahweh. Satan applauds you though as you are doing her work.

Why would I ignore the Bible? It gives us useful advice that you won't find any where else. Like <3 your neighbor, the 10 commandments, the feelings of God's loyal servants that resonate with so many of us today, etc.
When you do as you do here, you show what a pathetic piece of immoral human garbage you are.
Is that what you get taught? To offend and demean people? I'm happy I don't get taught that, I respect you, even though I may not agree with your beliefs.
On Jesus dying for you.

You have swallowed a lie and don’t care how evil you make Jesus to keep your feel good get out of hell free card.
Jesus is NOT Evil, he did what he wanted to do for me and for all of humanity.
It is a lie, first and foremost because, like it or not, having another innocent person suffer or die for the wrongs you have done, --- so that you might escape responsibility for having done them, --- is immoral. To abdicate your personal responsibility for your actions or use a scapegoat is immoral.
He died before I was even born, but he knew that I had inherited sin so he has given me the opportunity to show where I stand. I am thankful he did that, not only for me, but for EVERYONE.
You also have to ignore what Jesus, as a Jewish Rabbi, would have taught his people.
Why would I want to ignore that? He taught wisdom.
Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Makes sense. If one is knowingly and willingly committing sin without repentance, then what is there to do?
We make the choice whether we want to be righteous or wicked. When we're adults we make the choices, in spite of what our parents have taught us.

Deuteronomy 24:16 (ESV) "Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin.
Sounds fair.
Psa 49;7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
God the Almighty has given a ransom already. A perfect life (Jesus) for a perfect life (Adam).
There is no way that you would teach your children to use a scapegoat to escape their just punishments and here you are doing just that.
What punishments? We reap what we sow, if me make bad choices we reap the consequences, to teach us to make better choices. Choices that involve God are going to be successful, no matter how many snares the devil puts in front of us.
Jesus is just a smidge less immoral than his demiurge genocidal father, and here you are trying to put him as low in moral fibre as Yahweh. Satan applauds you though as you are doing her work.
The Father/Son relationship is perfect, we as imperfect human beings can only have an idea of what it's like. When we have a great relationship with our parents we can get more of that idea.
Au contraire, satan hates me for not being part of the world, for hating him and his evil works. He hates me for loving both the Father and the Son and for worshiping the only True God, Yahweh.

Don't lump all followers of Gnosticism in the same ideology. That's like doing the job of Christian heresiologists. And I think we have had enough of that in the past 2,000 years.

In order to understand Gnosticism, one must read the Nag Hammadi codex. You will find amazing little gems like this...

"Light and darkness, life and death, and right and left are siblings of one another, and inseparable. For this reason the good are not good, the bad are not bad, life is not life, death is not death. Each will dissolve into its original nature, but what is superior to the world cannot be dissolved, for it is eternal."

The Gospel of Philip - NHC II, 3

Just trying to enlighten some of you. All this good vs evil stuff is not in the codex. In the same book, I quoted God is called a "man-eater". Like it's no big deal to sacrifice humans.

Garbage that ignores morals.

That does not surprise me at all as ignoring morals is the only way you can idol worship your genocidal prick of a god.

Mind to explain why you're picking verses from the OT while you claim it's immoral ?

But you can decide to forgive your kid if he acknowledge his mistakes and depart from them.
Some verses are pertinent and if I wish to engage Christians, I have to play with their ball.
That is irrelevant to our chat.

Forgiving, as you are using it, has nothing to do with the punishment of the innocent instead of the guilty.
I see you as willfully stupid here.

Would you teach your children to use a scapegoat and if not, why do you give yourself as an example of someone who would?
