People can speak to the music industry and many other factions, but the modeling industry has and will be the worst thing going. Not only are models degraded, they put forth a bad fantasy of what people should look like. That, in turn., causes peer pressure on some to conform and attain the look or go the opposite way and rebel in some odd look. I think they hope promises will come true or that if they pay their dues all will get better in time. They are tossed to the curb much like trash and likely go through major mind games. Many become high priced call girls or boys for the rich and famous and are treated like the flavor of the week and then they're done and on to the next one. Once everyone has had a taste, depression moves in as they realize they need a sugar daddy or a real career and the thought of not being on top or good enouch kicks in. Sorry to be so glum here. And they sometimes call this glamorous. So, the shelf life is like, what, maybe 7 years max. True happiness is not always found at the top.

I was reading today of a little 7 year old who wanted to be a model since she was 3 years old and is now modeling...I just thought man your parents dropped the ball on that one! She is a pretty little girl...but really do they not have a clue?

She was in a sia video and hangs out with Maddie Ziegler.....

Ugh! That reminds me of the child pageants! The backstage stories of what really goes on in those are awful. It is really the parents coercing the girls into practicing routines, wearing sexy clothing and performing sexualized dance numbers.
The documentary I saw years ago showed the girls were exhausted and crying to not go onstage and just honestly acting like the kids they were.

Ya, that's some serious living through the life of your kids kind of stuff...I don't understand why mom's want to do that to their kids.

Well think about it. Would anyone buy those designer products if people didn't think it turned them impossibly beautiful? I say no way. Nobody would buy that 500 dollar shirt if they weren't hyping up false narratives. Nobody would get plastic surgery or expensive cosmetics if they didn't have a negative body image!

Obviously vanity has existed forever. Alexander the Great fell in love with Persian culture, and it was his undoing actually. But today everyone is vain, and materialistic. Those that care about spirituality are the anomalies.

I hate the fashion industry and I am glad that more and more people are speaking out against the practices that come with it.

From child pageants to starving models, it needs to stop. I am glad it's getting called out more often as it should be. Children shouldn't be modelling underwear, models shouldn't be skin and bones. It sets no good examples for anything. I don't understand why anyone would want to buy products that are sold to us by an industry known for it's abusive practices. Besides, why would you spend $500 on a one time shirt?

I don't get how these industries even have a market to provide for.

Yeah, I totally agree with that. My sister put her daughter in a small pageant and she won. I'm glad the expenses of these pageants became too expensive for her to continue to participate! :D Who knows where they would be now...

I am glad this kind of thread exists on here..it may be kinda old, but at least this was mentioned. I've hated the fashion industry for years. It's actually evil. It is something deceptive, to make it look like it's glamourous and fun on the outside, is actually completely toxic.
I hate the constant shoving of these impossible standards down our throats. Also, they realize that everyone is gonna look different? Not everyone is gonna have the conventional look.
I can't stand the idea of women, mostly (a few men, too) starving themselves, or exercising till they drop to look like these models. There's no point in it.
I will be so happy if the fashion industry burns to the ground and goes to hell where it belongs!
