Are you living by the Golden Rule the way I do?

Proverbs 3:12 For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

Gen3;22 Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil;

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.

Need I say more?

Proverbs are observations from real life by Solomon, not necessarily represents the truth, and shouldnt be quoted in support of anything. Like once he wrote he never met a woman which was worth his respect. Are you going to claim thats Christian doctrine too? Misusing and misunderstanding everything on purpose.
Adam and Eve knew good in Eden, learning the evil on their own was the problem. As learning it has a nasty price, death...

Would it perhaps be more correct to say that @Gnostic Christian Bishop clearly believes his approach to be persuasive?

He might naturally find approval from other people who have an antipathy toward the God of the Bible but that is not really the same as making a compelling argument in its own right.
Probably. Point is I'd take his approach more seriously if I didn't feel like he was bullying me into buying his brand of bias against something I'm trying to analyse critically.

I've always found the most persuasive arguments to make on forums are to boil everything down to false premises, then bludgeon everyone who does not accept my false premise with insults and afterwards crown myself champion.

60% of the time it works everytime!

According to your interpretation, that's not how we see it, not that it matters lol...
Of course - that’s why the Lord first showed Himself risen from the tomb to women...
Sure guys

7 “If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. 8 If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself,[a] he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her. 9 If he selects her for his son, he must grant her the rights of a daughter. 10 If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights.

The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Say to the Israelites: ‘A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4 Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.

20 “‘If a man sleeps with a female slave who is promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment.[a] Yet they are not to be put to death, because she had not been freed. 21 The man, however, must bring a ram to the entrance to the tent of meeting for a guilt offering to the Lord. 22 With the ram of the guilt offering the priest is to make atonement for him before the Lord for the sin he has committed, and his sin will be forgiven.

28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[a] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

25 Saul replied, “Say to David, ‘The king wants no other price for the bride than a hundred Philistine foreskins, to take revenge on his enemies.’” Saul’s plan was to have David fall by the hands of the Philistines.
26 When the attendants told David these things, he was pleased to become the king’s son-in-law. So before the allotted time elapsed, 27 David took his men with him and went out and killed two hundred Philistines and brought back their foreskins. They counted out the full number to the king so that David might become the king’s son-in-law. Then Saul gave him his daughter Michal in marriage.

Just takes basic reading comprehension to see what Yahweh thinks of women.

@Red Sky at Morning , sure but Paul says for women not to speak in church, Peter says for them to submit so maybe they weren’t listening to Jesus. If anything that supports that the God of the Old Testament is not the same as presented by Jesus. Then again Jesus was pretty cold to Mary at times and she really isn’t portrayed positively in the Gospel if you think about. Then again st the earliest this was all written decades after he lived by men from highly patriarchal societies who may have downplayed the role of women in the life of Jesus.

Only in the twisted Christian version.

You ignore that these are Jewish stories and myths and should be looked at from the Jewish perspective and not the Christian one.

Jews see Original Virtue and not Original Sin?

That is why you sing of Adam's sin being a happy fault and necessary to god's plan.

You and the stupid Christian way of thinking are quite confused.

My brand is against genocidal son murderers.

If you want your brand to honor and idol worship a genocidal son murdering god, you are well on your way.

Context in which fwoman were told not to speak in churches was explained in this forum at least once before. Not our fault people judge situation without having enough information about it. Try googling...And yes people lived differently back then...Surprise surprise...I don't see anyone advocating for a life according to those rules again. Maybe just maybe we don't take it as something we need to follow. I wonder why ? Absurdity to quote random scriptures like that and pretend making a point..

It doesn’t get better with context. Of course people lived differently back then, isn’t progress great? Still, they justified how they lived back then by God, at anytime he could have said, “hey man don’t do that” instead he told them to do it.

If you don’t see people advocating to live like that again, or to have some form of theocracy you aren’t looking hard enough

I see theocracy alright. For example its nobody business what two gays do behind closed doors. Yet it everyone's business what Christians think behind closed doors...In US we are listed as people who are potential threat to the state. So we are nowhere near thocracy to anyone who is able to see past cheap labels like of politicians pretending to be Christians to get their votes. And I didn't read the link, I'm sure all kinds of crazy people exist. On the same level of crazy is to suggest they represent majority or the truth.

The best answer to the perverse, present age theocracy of Dominion theology is the realisation that it will ultimately be Jesus who will establish His own Kingdom.

Acts 1

6When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

It is pretty much Christian doctrine.
You would certainly think so, based on the behavior of some of them-- unfortunately, it also applies to a lot of other men who believe women are somehow less than...

I thought that only applied to my mother's generation and before, but the disrespect is alive and well in some men younger than I am.

Egomaniacs with inferiority complexes. :p

Misogyny crosses all cultural and religious lines to be certain. It doesn’t let Christianity or it’s sacred texts off the hook. Same applies to Hinduism or Islam or any other religion that has similar views. They deserve just as much criticism.
