-I'm not economically stable, I don't have a nice personality and when I open my mouth, all that comes out is ignorance. I have zero social skills and I'm blander than rotten mashed potatoes but no "Feminism is the problem" lol.
This is like the alpha/beta talk. Ignoring the cringe that is so bad that anyone even calling themselves or others either an alpha or beta bs makes everyone with little self-respect throw up, no guy who calls himself an alpha is one.
Its the same case here, men talking about their chivalrous side working only for ladies smooth as honey and fragile as a rose and not for talking-back, working job, tattooed lesbians lmfao you just prefer a certain type Billy, you aren't special and your type will likely not have you as her type so go out of the house for once and interact with actual people.

opening a door for a woman these days, and a guy can be called sexist or chauvinist because he would be accused of believing that the woman couldnt do it herself or she isnt strong enough.
I think changing a tire would have been a better example. But when was the last time you saw a woman changing a tire? Nowadays they just sit in the car and call someone else. Many years ago, a lady friend called me from a pay phone (yes, that long ago) late summer, hot and nasty out. Instead of nursing my hangover, I was changing a tire.

...and what, you think feminism has nothing to do with bringing this about?
Because it sure hasn't fostered the opposite, even taking everything you say at face value.
And "all that comes out is ignorance" is just one of these cliché -ist Orwellian insults.

That's why men need to be in charge of protection. Women just don't understand how serious it is.
Your joking right???

@rex how exactly are you blaming feminism for someone’s innate lack of social skills? Also feminism - the version you are bitching about atleast - was a reaction to the social and economic changes brought on by the industrial revolution. It was not the cause of them.

The best society is one where men and women follow the roles they are equipped for by nature. Men are providers and protectors, and women are the object of that provision and protection. The goal is family and a healthy society.

Men have aggression and a desire for power that needs to be directed and tamed, and women have the power to do that. When men are at their best, all their energies are directed toward making the women happy and safe.

This is modern chivalry.

Men from every class and standing went without complaint and died to protect their women and the way of life that benefited their families, because that's what good men do.
Wow. I could not agree more.

Roles are necessary and I appreciate men who play theirs.

I don't think chivalry is dead. Nor is the code of the "Knight". I think they might be in a process of transformation. Of course, I know that transformation is mostly just a buzz word, but I do actually believe it.

Generally speaking, everything has good parts and bad parts. Take Chivalry, for example, it can be a great thing. However, it can also make women feel confined, or smothered. I'm just saying I think it's super important to distinguish between real threats and threats driven by ego, or paranoia.

I've spent more time than normal figuring out what threats are real or not. So I can confidently say most of "chivalry" can be fed to the birds. Most women don't need an air raid backing them up.
You made a very good point there.
Many women would prefer not to have a "chivalrous," man doting on them.

It's all relative.

We need men to protect us? Who do you think we need to be protected from in the first place? Men are the ones killing and raping us en masse. I don't believe in gender essentialism bc I don't believe in anything that comes from my oppressor.

You need a good man with a gun to protect you from a bad man with a gun.

There are ways to treat the either gender. They are both meant to be treated differently. Concept of Lady however is outdated and anyone still holding onto to needs to grow up and realize that this is not a fictional Victorian Era.

Ugh incels.
Hmm interesting point. I am one of the people who needs to grow up!!

Although I see validity in your point, I do prefer to be treated as my definition of a lady. I don't throw a tantrum if I am not treated how I feel a lady should be treated, but I was raised to have expectations of how a man will treat me.

Being from the south makes a bit of a difference in regard to this concept for me :))

chivalry is dead, and feminism killed it.

opening a door for a woman these days, and a guy can be called sexist or chauvinist because he would be accused of believing that the woman couldnt do it herself or she isnt strong enough. thats where we are today.

it will come back naturally once we squash 3rd wave feminism and return to our traditional male/female roles which have worked for thousands of years.
I very much agree with you. I think feminism is not all bad.

But I have met women who scoff at the idea of a man opening a door or paying for a meal. I think it is silly to turn down courtesy and respect. It is just ridiculous to me.

I have had to explain to women what courting is and how it works. I believe that men want to treat women in a way that our forefathers did, but they are afraid of the results (getting made fun of, getting yelled at etc)

I don’t know any woman who has yelled at or made fun of a man for opening the door for them or paying on a date. Some women may want to go Dutch on dates so their dates don’t feel like they are owed something for paying and that’s perfectly reasonable.

Nice to know you don't think equality is important.

Not really. The only think feminism says on gendered

This sort of thing existed long before feminism was even a thing.

I also need you to explain this one since I don't quite understand your logic here.

Trying to be nice to get something out of someone isn't altruism.

If you want to blame something for this, blame our economic system.

This is also the work of our economic system, not feminism.

Also the fault of our economic system. You are blaming feminism for the exploitation of capitalsim.

No, it doesn't?
Wow. I really like each rebuttal to the initial statement. Thank you for shooting straight and being respectful. I think you made some very valid points.

If you mean the Knight class of feudalism, the enforcers of the nobilities’ illegal property claims, then no they no longer exist, they did however evolve into the police/military class and perhaps even the managerial/business class, just as feudalism evolved into capitalism.

https://www.britannica.com/topic/chivalry

“The concept of chivalry in the sense of “honourable and courteous conduct expected of a knight” was perhaps at its height in the 12th and 13th centuries and was strengthened by the Crusades, which led to the founding of the earliest orders of chivalry, the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (Hospitalers) and the Order of the Poor Knights of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon (Templars), both originally devoted to the service of pilgrims to the Holy Land. In the 14th and 15th centuries the ideals of chivalry came to be associated increasingly with aristocratic display and public ceremony rather than service in the field.”

Born in the savagery of the Crusades and later “embodied” by the elite. Hard pass on chivalry.
HAHAHA. That was a nice break down.

"Hard pass ,"had me laughing!!

Do you treat women differently than you do men?

Or are things like opening doors and such not considered chivalry to you?

I think that's more a perception than a reality. I usually get a smile and a thank you. At worst, just kinda ignored.
I am glad that I am not a man in these cases. Seems scary to approach let alone help a woman!

And now guys who cry at the thought of a woman talking back to them, talk about chivalry being endangered because of feminism.
SO true!
Expressing a thought different that theirs is enough to make a man cry. Speaking your mind is not disrespect, but many people cannot tell the difference

I come from a long line of spit fire women and men. So some men cannot quite handle the fact that I don't just take what they say and run with it.
