I remember avoiding YouTube for the longest time only to discover a few years ago what I was missing and thus becoming a regular viewer. From the time I started watching their content over MSM media and TV programming, I saw the beginning of the purge of free speech and thought.

I saw some content that made my skin crawl but I ignored it for what they had good at the time. But now, instead of ignoring content they find offensive, PC'ers have turned the place on its head, screwed it up forever with the current purge that is coming to a head. So, what we have left are sell outs and like-minded PC zombie content. But we all know PC is out of control and they eat their own in time until there is nothing left but a miserable pile of goo that will in time turn on their very self.

So, we cannot see the exaggeration of MSM or behind the scenes gotcha videos from the likes of everyday people. We cannot see the lies as clearly from a person on the scene showing a real-time look-in.

Anyhow, there are plenty of links showing YT's purge of anything that rocks the view they want you to see. They are now force feeding you what is propaganda and fake news only and it has cost them a billion dollars to do so. All tech is going the way of this thing at breakneck speed. It is the end of YouTube as we know it and they are of course, a Google company. Screw em'

On the bright side, we were brighter than they thought and they had to go this route. But fake news has been exposed forever and only those who drank the Kool-Aid will watch and believe it. And that is what scares me... how many people are already in a prison of their own mind and what they let in.

I stopped watching the first video the moment he said Chowder was demotenized. I should have stopped when he unironically called someone a soyboy...

Anyway. This is nothing new. At all. YouTube is a place to share your ideas. But it's also a place for YouTube to make money off of your content with ads. If you're too controversial, you demonetized. Period.

There's a lot of leftist YouTubers I like. Almost none of them get ads. Corporations tend to not like people speaking against capitalism. The only one I've seen ads on was hbomberguy's video essays about pop culture - that are apolitical. But I guess it doesn't matter if you disagree with the people.

Get my head out of the sand? Really?

I'm not saying that YouTube is good here. I'm just saying stop getting so damned outraged when it only happens to people you agree with. Do you care that Contrapoints, a trans woman, can't monetize her content? Do you care creators like Shaun or Three Arrows can't? Does that bother you?

YouTube is a shit platform. You won't hear me argue that it's not. But if you're so offended about what YouTube is doing, you should be upset a long time ago... Since it's not just people who you agree with that that get screwed over by YouTube. It stopped becoming a place to freely share your ideas a long time ago... And it isn't because of mean liberals. It's because of mean corporations.

I am not offended by any free speech... trans, righty or lefty. It is about censorship and silicon valley implementing their thought police and will on others. I am not emotionally pointing out anything but shedding light on YT's new statement which admits to pushing you to MSM sources. So, I care about all free speech and I am not one to just say, okay, whatever, tiptoe through the tulips. We need more outrage in the current political climate where they want to make all of us Stepford people accepting of what they say you should accept. #Thought Policing101 The videos were mere samples of what is being said. I never said I agreed with everything in them and I have had to say that pretty much every time I link one.

As for the rest, I know what you think, for I have heard it before arguing this and that, it is theirs, etc, but you miss the major point being a Devils Advocate.

I'm not playing the Devil's Advocate.

YouTube is a shit platform. You won't hear me argue that it's not.
Since you know how to type, I'm going to assume you know how to read? But YouTube never was truly a place for free speech. Maybe when it originally was created and was a hell of a lot less moderated... But since the Google buy it was always a corporate tool. If you want to use it as a platform, to express your views, you'll have to play ball. And even then, YouTube might make it so you can't make money off your time and effort... So if you plan to use YouTube as a platform you have to go into it with that knowledge.

There is no such thing as free speech when it comes to corporations.

I read some articles saying that YouTube will take down videos that promote nazism and calls to violence towards groups of people. Those are good reasons to take down a video in my opinion and I think they should stick by those terms of service. The problem with YouTube is that advertisers are the ones who have the final say because they're the way that YouTube makes money... So anything a corporation sees as harmful to their profits will not be able to be monetized on Youtube and due to that, it won't be promoted as much. If I owned a corporation, I wouldn't want my ads showing up on Nazi content either and I definitely wouldn't want my ads to show up on anti-capitalist content. It's all just business. Free speech only applies to the government, not private businesses. The government can't arrest you for being a nazi, but your nazi videos can be taken off of YouTube, especially if they aren't advertiser friendly.

As an early adopter, I liked Youtube before Google bought them. It's all been downhill since Google bought them.
Youtube has been terrible for years. The last two have been the worst. If I wanted mainstream nonsense, I'd watch Fox or LMNOP News. I don't need MSM lies and AI suggesting mainstream fare is
why ABC lost all that money. That said they don't care about money.
Big picture I am not surprised at any of it. I saw a lot of it coming a mile away as far as deplatforming.
All Youtube has done for me recently is cement my need to divest from Google completely. Most of the majors are ish, but Google is trash.
While I don't care about kosherservatives like Crowder, I do care about free speech. Either we all have free speech or none of us have free speech. Either we believe in the Constitution or we don't. I do so that's where I come from as far as free speech.

The problem Mecca is the purge was far more than Nazi's and many on the left use the N-word too frequently. This latest purge was because a gay Vox writer got triggered and whined. Advertisers were already on the banned sites and YT simply told some they could not advertise on certain fringe sites despite them not having an issue. Heck., I haven't seen a Nazi site on YT in ages. Nazi is the new buzz word for anyone who disagrees with the MSM.

Lastly, the tech giants started out as equal public platforms and were thus given breaks from repercussions from the government and now they have burned a bridge. This is not over. I have a feeling this will get political and quick for it does not take much to see that this is a concerted effort to squelch any opposing voices to the dying MSM.

ads to show up on anti-capitalist content
LOL
To your overall point though, I think it's the masses. Company X puts an ad on ABC... ABC plays some witch show....therefore, Company X supports Satanism. It's stupid. I did not care for that Gillette ad (was it an ad?), but I'll continue to buy Gillette because I'm satisfied with the product. Brawny paper towels seems to have gotten into the act as well (at least on the packaging). I'll still buy Brawny, too.

It was primarily nazis. These new rules are specifically against nazi and supremacist content of all kinds. The only people who were affected by this policy were white supremacists. And you're seriously calling it the n word? lol. Some innocent people did get swept up in the policy change though, there were journalist channels that made documentaries about hate groups and historical videos on nazism that got demonetized for depicting nazism even though they did not promote it.
This latest purge was because a gay Vox writer got triggered and whined.
I'm certain that YouTube created these guidelines before Carlos said anything about his personal situation. YouTube has already been trying to get a handle on the types of content posted on their site for a while now. YouTube themselves stated that their new content policy has no connection to that situation. The situation with Steven Crowder and Carlos Maza is a separate event.

Carlos was being harassed over the course of 2 years by Steven Crowder and his fans. Harassment is specifically against YouTube's content policy. Interestingly, YouTube did not take action against Crowder due to the harassment, they claimed that his videos didn't break any content policy and they did not take down any videos. It's a common occurrence that YouTube rarely enforces their harassment rules. What YouTube later decided to do was temporarily demonetize Crowder for selling shirts utilizing slurs through their website. They said they will restore monetization when he no longer links to those shirts on his YouTube channel. YouTube had to evaluate and deal with that situation between Carlos and Steven separately, which they would have done regardless of if they changed their policy or not because the conflict was getting a lot of negative attention. That situation is not connected to the new policy, they simply occurred around the same time. Crowder's videos were specifically not affected by the new content policy, because he doesn't have any neo-nazi content to my knowledge.

The coinciding of these two events is an unfortunate occurrence of bad timing for YouTube. Crowder wanted to conflate these two events but they are separate. And there is no adpocalypse occurring at this time... advertisers are not currently leaving the site like they did a few years ago. But YouTube is afraid that it will happen again, that's why they're demonetizing a lot of content.
I have a feeling this will get political and quick for it does not take much to see that this is a concerted effort to squelch any opposing voices to the dying MSM.
Maybe these rules could be bad for the independent journalists who document hate groups. It's already been happening, some channels are being demonetized because they make videos depicting hate groups or have historical videos on nazism. I think this problem can be easily resolved though. But generally, as long as people aren't making supremacist content they won't be affected by these rules... There's still plenty of independent journalists on YouTube. So far the majority of channels that were demonetized due to this new policy were not journalists, but literal neo-nazis. And not even all of the neo-nazi channels on youtube have been affected.
Nazi is the new buzz word for anyone who disagrees with the MSM.
I don't think that's accurate.

The Chowder incident is a lot more complicated than that. The Vox writer whined, but despite identify himself as queer, when Chowder used the word to describe the writer it was in a derogatory way. Dude also sells a t-shirt that says "Socialism is for F*gs", claiming that the censored letter is totally an 'i'. While it gives him plausible deniability, you know it's BS.

Dude is pretty good and knowing how to game the system. But he's not banned. He just can't make money off his YouTube channel, unless he does a few things to make Daddy YouTube better. Assuming he makes more money from his merch than YouTube videos, he doesn't even have to do that.

Advertisers were already on the banned sites and YT simply told some they could not advertise on certain fringe sites despite them not having an issue. Heck., I haven't seen a Nazi site on YT in ages. Nazi is the new buzz word for anyone who disagrees with the MSM.
You won't find many open nazis on YouTube. But you will find people who are definitely adjacent all with various degrees of monetization, either as content creators or based upon individual videos. So basically, it's no different from what you see on Leftist YouTube. If a video or creator gets a little to risque for advertisers... Well, no money for you.

Lastly, the tech giants started out as equal public platforms and were thus given breaks from repercussions from the government and now they have burned a bridge. This is not over. I have a feeling this will get political and quick for it does not take much to see that this is a concerted effort to squelch any opposing voices to the dying MSM.
I don't think anyone would argue that YouTube is trying to silence any voice that seeks to defy the status quo. Yet at the end of the day, it isn't even about what people say... It's if YouTube can make money off the backs of its content creators. If they can't sell ads to put on your videos, they go out of their way to make it hard for you to make videos. Because at the end of the day, YouTube only cares about advertisers and corporations. It really isn't even about politics.

There is a YouTuber by the name of Michael Saba who made a video essay about the anime Kill la Kill. While it was political in nature (since the anime has a lot of political themes hidden in the big showy battles and fan service), he really didn't say anything offensive. Everything he did was fair use... But he received a copyright STRIKE from Sony Music. On a video that wasn't even set to make money if the first place.

The video said fascism is bad. Nazis are bad... Why did Youtube silence HIM even though the video was fair use? Well, because a corporation told them to.

Google is not a private business. If so, they need to pay US taxpayers back the money they used to take "their" business to the next level. None of these big tech companies really are truly "private".

The Nazi lie? It's garbage.
And under the "anti-semitism" laws, you can be arrested for being a "Nazi". I live in Florida. People are being arrested now for being "Nazis". The laws are very strict thanks to Trump, the Legislative branch and DeSantis.
It just means you can't call out the Zionist Jews on their destroying your country with wars against their enemies.
I don't care about next sham election where another Zionist pawn will run against Trump, a Zionist shill.

That doesn't change what she said. Even if Google is a publically traded company, they have no obligation to give anyone a platform. And if they think advertisers will would think your content is problematic,

I don't like hate speech laws. If anything, they just make racists code their language. But if you're getting arrested for being a nazi... Maybe you shouldn't be a racist?

Countless people call out Israel and don't get called nazis. Do you know what gets you called a nazi? When you blame Jews as a whole.

They own their servers and have the legal right to decide what they do and do not want to host on their platforms.

No one wants their ads to be on videos that they disagree with since it means that they are indirectly funding that. Google is not the government, your free speech doesn't apply to them.

Well, some videos of Yellow vests and other citizens has been deleted for 'hate speech' since wednesday. I ignored that Google practiced Chinese policies to fight dissent views.
Yep, it's pretty clear for me that they hate the fact that the internet became a blessing for the masses. More precisely the fact that we were now able to find real journalists and a counter narrative to MSM.

I stand by what I said.

What is racism? Nationalism? Not liking people? That's not a reason to be arrested. The case I know of was a case of hate speech. Threatening assault? Not okay, but already covered by law.

Countless people call out Israel and don't get called nazis. Do you know what gets you called a nazi? When you blame Jews as a whole.

What people are those? Not in 2019. Call out Israel and you lose your job. You get demonetized. Try again.
