I posted in this thread way back when and got a notification New posts were made. So I looked.

I’m sorry for pointing out your error but it was an error and stories that inflammatory and nonsensical should send up warning flags without someone even having to point it out.

In one breathe you berate me for being here “so often” and in the next you expect me to notice every single post that’s made even when it has like no responses? Make up your mind.

Also.. this thread is not about me. The story you posted was false. That’s all.

Edit: that other thread was made late last night well after I had stopped coming on here for the day and I’ve been busy all day today so when exactly did you expect me to see it?

You only sought to verify it because I posted it...but I’m not the only one here who thought the story was true...go in her thread and beat her over the head that her story was false too. The way you lasered in on me I’m surprised you didn’t see her thread clear as day!

Posted at 9pm. I wasn’t on the site at 9pm and spent most of my morning researching shit that has nothing to do with here and working. Not religiously and frantically looking through VC posts with no responses. Sorry.

And yes I did post the same article in her thread once you pointed out my omission. Why would I fact check a news story prior to it being brought to my attention? Do you expect me to be psychic now too? Of course I only looked into it once you posted it, I hadn’t seen it before then.

Lol...did you call her a liar too? I saw your posting in her thread, you were a lot nicer to her than me and we both posted the same article.

When did I call you a liar?

Our conversation wasn’t limited to the article in question but the whole entire premise of this thread Lisa. Stop comparing

The only verifiable source I can find on the 17 year old states: a 17-year-old, who had Duchenne muscular dystrophy, had been put to death.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwipz7D49NDiAhUtm-AKHfQjD-MQzPwBegQIARAC&url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/steveforbes/2018/09/11/time-to-terminate-assisted-dying/&psig=AOvVaw1gmq5k7gmwYGd2miw1Ldfp&ust=1559775034976458

So it would appear that perhaps your source was wrong. Muscular dystrophy is a lot different than depression

Isn’t that what all that verification talk was about?
Can’t help comparing since you were the one breathing down my neck about the story. I only posted what I saw, not my fault that the story wasn’t factual the first time.
And...I’m not the only one who saw it and posted it.

I think you need to go back and re read the thread Lisa. I never called you a liar and I didn’t address the linked story until pages into our dialogue. At which point I told u I can’t find a verified source and I think your source is wrong. That isn’t calling you a liar.

I opened Facebook and the article I posted debunking it was literally the first thing I saw - so yes I posted it.

You are putting entirely too much energy and thought into ME. Seriously.

Edit: the idea that a government would assist a child in killing herself over a mental illness when depression is so prevalent in that age group due to hormonal changes seemed insane to me and I told u I would withhold commenting further until I found a verified source for the story. That’s a rational position to take. You should try it sometime

I'd have to call it a mix of false/true. Not euthanized, but care (nurishment/fluids) withheld. Good luck trying that in the states. Doctors would call CPS if the parents even suggested it. In the end, she is dead. I hope she found peace.
She found death, I don’t think that’s the same thing as peace.

Actually kids make their own medical decisions at 14 years old in the United States - or atleast any one I’ve ever worked in. Nothing you can do about it.

A person needs to consent to treatment. If they do not then withholding that treatment is legally required and not the same thing as euthanasia.

I don't see how that would work as they're not old enough to sign for informed consent. I've seen articles where CPS was called for refusing chemo (then court ordered). I hope you're correct and I've just had bad info

Informed consent for medical is different. It’s 14 years old. Trust me, I get it. It’s insanely infuriating from a professional/parenting stand point but it is in fact the law.

If the child was under 14 it could be considered medical neglect. In a state with a different law (I don’t think this exists I believe it’s part of HIPPA) it would also be possible

I guess they can but must jump through legal hoops.

idk... hmph.

For six months before my sons 14th birthday the dr started explaining to him heads going to have to start consenting to his own medical treatment. It pissed me off. When I worked in nj I had more than one 15 year old client who refused mental health treatment and I couldn’t do a damn thing about it - neither could there parents. Idk.
