Real charisma is the mighty, sovereign move of God. I was struck by a couple of words in the description of Stephen, one of my all time heroes of faith, in Acts 6.
8And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
9Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called
the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10And they were not able to resist the
wisdom and the
spirit by which he spake.
Wisdom AND the spirit. All of the gifts work through love, I grew up and saw the move of the Spirit and people healed every week or so, quietly at the back of a meeting or with a couple of people praying and anointing with oil.
At the same time there was a rise of prosperity, health and wealth, 'Word of faith' type belief springing up where Christian celebrities would get the attention.
But - "no flesh will glory in God's presence" and the glory began to depart. God is gracious and people still got healed but I could sense a change in the spirit.
When flesh and the Spirit contend in a fellowship, this angers the Lord.
2 Samuel 6
5And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of
instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
6And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor,
Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. 7And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for
his error; and there he died by the ark of God.
8And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this day.
9And David was
afraid of the LORD that day, and said, How shall the ark of the LORD come to me? 10So David would not remove the ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.
11And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household.
I think it is quite possible that the Ark was an OT representation of the third person of the Trinity.
"One of the main purposes for the Ark was that of God’s being present or dwelling with His people and when the Ark was missing, so too was God’s glory. When the Philistines captured the Ark (1 Sam 4:11) the glory was said to have departed from Israel"

Here Uzzah acts unworthily and gets killed for it! Things go wrong when fleshly people stretch out their hand to try to control the move of the Spirit.
David's response was to become afraid and leave the Ark behind!!!!!
I did this for twenty years!
I started to shift my view when I watched this clip about three years ago..
