There is no Good Friday: it was on a Wednesday.
3 days AND three nights MEANS 3 days AND 3 nights

Most people have been wrongly taught and therefore believe that Jesus only taught for 3 and 1/2 years and was crucified at Ishtar of 33 AD, so please do not take what is being shared as something personal against any of you. It is not meant to be taken personally by anyone and is only meant to straighten out the common misunderstanding and set the record straight, as all of the postings made here are dedicated to truth.

This teaching of 3 and 1/2 years, of course, is untrue, like most things you have been taught by your blind guides, and a close look at all of what Daniel the Old Testament Prophet wrote will prove it to be untrue.

Daniel 9:26-27
9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and The Sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
9:27 And he shall confirm The Covenant with many for ONE WEEK: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations He shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation (the "Lake of Hell-Fire"), and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

So here we have the proof that God said the Messiah would confirm The Covenant (New Covenant prophesied in Ezekiel 34) for ONE WEEK, meaning SEVEN years. Seven years, NOT three and a half years. The reference to being cut off in the midst (middle) of the week therefore cannot possibly refer to the number of years, but only to the day of the week - Wednesday, not Friday as the pagan so-called christian churches teach, just like they teach the false date of Jesus' birth as being Dec. 25th.

They have done the same with the Crucifixion. It was on a Wednesday the middle of the week, not on Friday the sixth day of the week.

Please see the notations below in { } to help explain Daniel 9:27, which is obviously about the Messiah/Christ:

Daniel 9:27 And He {The Messiah/Christ} shall confirm The Covenant {the New Covenant} with many for one week {7 days = 7 years in Bible prophecy code*; please see Numbers 14:34 below}: and in the midst of the week {WEDNESDAY} he shall cause the sacrifice {His Crucifixion} and the oblation {His Life which He offered to us to show us The Way (John 14:6) and to redeem us from our PAST SINS (Rom. 3:25)} to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations {ALL of the churches that have formed to teach the opposite of what Christ teaches} He shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation {the "Lake of Hell-Fire"}, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate {those who refuse to listen to and obey God ONLY - please see Acts 5:29, Luke 19:27, Rev. 2:23}.

*Numbers 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, [even] forty days, EACH DAY FOR A YEAR, shall ye bear your iniquities, [even] forty years, and ye shall know My breach of promise.

Many mistakenly believe that Jesus died on a Friday because we are told in the Gospels that they had to get His Body down before the Sabbath began (at sunset). What most do not bother to research is that there were TWO SABBATHS the week Jesus was crucified. The first was a "high" Sabbath (or high “holy”-day – please see Leviticus 23:5-7), which marked the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread that follows Passover.

John 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and [that] they might be taken away.

The second was the weekly Sabbath which took place on Saturday, as always (beginning immediately after sunset Friday and ending at sunset Saturday).

If we take a look at all of the gospel accounts of the Crucifixion and Resurrection—and read what they ACTUALLY say—the picture becomes quite clear.

Matthew 28:1-6
28:1 After the (two) Sabbaths, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
28:2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
28:4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead [men].
28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
28:6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Christ-Jesus was not there early on Sun-day (the first day of the week) because He had already risen BEFORE (on Saturday, the Sabbath Day/The Lord’s Day).

Mark 16:1-8
16:1 And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the [mother] of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
16:2 And very early in the morning the first [day] of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
16:3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
16:4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.
16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus the Nazarite, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
16:7 But go your way, tell his disciples AND Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
16:8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any [man]; for they were afraid.

Please note well that the Marys came just after the Sabbath had ended and they found the tomb EMPTY. Why? BECAUSE HE HAD ALREADY RISEN ON THE SABBATH DAY (Saturday). It is also important to consider when Mary Magdalene, and Mary the [mother] of James, and Salome, would have been able to buy sweet spices. Conducting commerce of any kind is strictly prohibited on the Sabbath. No buying or selling allowed.

Remember, they had to hurry to take down the body of Jesus (Mark 15:42-47) and bury it before the Sabbath began. So there wasn't anytime for them to run out to purchase spices after burying the body of Jesus. And yet very early on the first day of the week they came to the sepulchre, with spices THEY HAD BOUGHT AND PREPARED ON FRIDAY, the day between the high Sabbath on Thursday and the weekly Sabbath on Saturday (which occurred that way in 34 A.D.).

The account in Luke confirms this as well.

Luke 23:44-56
23:44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
23:45 And the sun was darkened, and the "Temple Veil" (to the "Holy of Holies") was rent in the midst.
23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the Spirit.
23:47 Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
23:48 And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.
23:49 And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
23:50 And, behold, [there was] a man named Joseph, a counsellor (and "Minister of Mines" - to the romans as well as the jews); [and he was] a good man, and a just (and was Jesus' great-uncle):
23:51 (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them; ) [he was] of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the Kingdom of God.
23:52 This [man] went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
23:53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
23:54 And that day was the preparation, and the (high) Sabbath drew on.
23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments (on Friday); and rested the Sabbath day according to the Commandment.

Please pay particular attention to the final three verses. They laid the body of Jesus in the sepulchre on the day of preparation (the day preceding the high Sabbath) and the Sabbath drew on (the sun set and the Sabbath begun).

They returned and prepared spices and ointments...a task that they would not have been able to do on the Sabbath by Law... and then rested the (weekly) Sabbath day, after preparing the spices on Friday.

John 19:40-42, 20:1
19:40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
19:41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
19:42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation [day]; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
20:1 The first [day] of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

It would not have been possible for the two Marys to have purchased the spices before Jesus was crucified because they didn't know in advance He would be arrested and executed. On Tuesday evening that week (as Tuesday evening became Wednesday at sunset) Jesus was celebrating the Passover with His Disciples. He was then arrested in the wee hours of the morning Wednesday and crucified that same day. So the only way the two Marys could have purchased and prepared the spices/ointments is for there to have been a day in between the high Sabbath and the weekly Sabbath that week. Which confirms the Wednesday crucifixion prophesied in Daniel 9:27, placing the high Sabbath on Thursday.

So why do people buy into the lie the churches teach that somehow Jesus died on a Friday and rose before or near the dawn on the following Sunday and somehow that period of time adds up to three days? Because THIS GENERATION is an evil and unfaithful generation that refuses to believe the words of Christ Himself, Who told us all EXACTLY how long His body would be in the ground:

Matthew 12:39-40
12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and unfaithfull generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah:
12:40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus arose from the dead on the Sabbath Day - Saturday - three days and three nights after the Wednesday mid-week Crucifixion, exactly as he prophesied that he would do. Christ even defined the length of a day and a night if anyone cares to take notice:

John 11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

12 hours in the day + 12 hours in the night (when people stumble in the dark) = 24 hours.

No matter what kind of excuses about time-keeping are made to try to justify a 3-day period between Friday evening (just before sunset) to before or near the dawn Sunday morning as 3 days, there is absolutely no way to come up with three nights. Friday night + Saturday night do NOT equal 3 nights. Wednesday night + Thursday night + Friday night = three nights.

Jesus died on a Wednesday and rose on a Saturday (the Sabbath day which we are COMMANDED to keep holy) exactly as we have been told by God, through His prophet Daniel, and by Christ Himself.

The crucifixion was on Wednesday 21 st of April in 34 AD., forty years after the birth of Jesus in 7 BC.

Even a small child knows the difference between two and three. So how can 2 billion so-called Christians be fooled by such an obvious lie? If the churches and their leaders (who Christ called the blind leading the blind - Matthew 15:14) don't even know the truth about the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ-Jesus, then how could anyone trust ANYTHNG else they teach?

It would be unwise to invest one's life savings with someone or in something that hadn't been thoroughly investigated, so why do so many invest their immortal souls and the only REAL Life they have in these blind guides and their obvious lies without taking the time to thoroughly investigate the Scriptures for themselves, asking Father (God) for His Guidance in reading them? Is not one's eternal Life the most precious thing any of us have?

To say that the ministry of Jesus was only for three and a half years, as the blind guides who falsely claim to work for God do, is to contradict God and Daniel, who said it was SEVEN years. Those who contradict God, are, by doing so, opposing God, which proves that they really work for Satan - the Opposer - and that they do NOT work for God. Do not allow yourself to be deceived by them, or you will end up in The Pit with them, exactly as Jesus told you.

Matthew 15:13-14
15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath NOT planted, shall be rooted up.
15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch (or Pit).

Amen - so be it.

Friday or Wednesday?

by Chuck Missler • April 1, 2000

The observances of Good Friday and Easter Sunday have perpetuated the traditional chronology that the crucifixion took place on a Friday, and that the Lord’s body was buried on that day at about 6:00 p.m., and that he rose from the dead early on the following Sunday morning.

There are some, however, that feel this tradition is at variance with the Scriptural record. The traditional view seems to conflict with certain prophetic and legal facts.

“Three Days”

One of the problems is reckoning “three days” between Friday evening and Sunday morning. I was once co-hosting a national TV show which had the famed apologist John Warwick Montgomery as a guest. This issue came up, and John rendered the traditional rationalization, pointing out that the Jews reckoned a partial day as a whole day.

I turned to my co-host and explained, “You must remember that John is an attorney, and that’s the way they bill!”

(John almost fell out of his chair laughing — he hadn’t realized that I was well aware of his distinguished legal background.)

But the difficulty remains. Our Lord’s definitive statement is one of the problems:

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

— Matthew 12:40

The mention of nights, as well as the number of days, makes it hard to render this as simply an idiomatic rhetorical device rather than a statement of fact.

Further, when Paul declares the resurrection of Christ to be “according to the Scriptures” in 1 Corinthians 15:4, if this isn’t an allusion to Jonah 1:17, then where else? (Perhaps, in Genesis 22, the three days between the “death” of Isaac — when the commandment came — and his “return” to Abraham may have been the macrocode, or typological allusion, that Paul might have had in mind.[1] )

Intensifying this controversy was the “three days” issue at the trial of Jesus.

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, [yet] found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, And said, This [fellow] said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

— Matthew 26:59–61

What did Jesus really say?

Destroy this temple [of His body], and in three days I will raise it up.

— John 2:19

The same phrase reoccurs in the gospels a dozen times.[2] It also seems to frequently reoccur in prophetic patterns.[3]

The Sabbaths

Nowhere in the Gospels does it assert that Christ was crucified on a Friday. In Mark 15:42, it refers to “…the day before the sabbath.” This may be the root of the misunderstanding.

The Jews had other sabbaths in addition to the weekly shabbat (Saturday). In addition to the weekly sabbaths, there were seven “high sabbaths” each year, and the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the 15th of Nisan, was one of them.[4]

Further, Matthew 28:1 should read, “At the end of the sabbaths,”[5] (which is plural in the Greek), implying there was a plurality of sabbaths that week.

If Passover, the 14th of Nisan, fell earlier in the week, the 15th could have been any day prior to Saturday, the weekly sabbath. “When the sabbaths were past” would, of course, be Sunday (actually, Saturday after sundown), in accordance to the Feast of First Fruits. (Some hold to a Thursday crucifixion on a similar basis.)

The 17th of Nisan

Jesus had declared that He would be in the grave three days, and yet was to be resurrected “on the morrow after the sabbath,” on the day of the Feast of First Fruits.[6]

It is interesting that the authorities, anxious to get the body off the cross before sundown, unknowingly were fulfilling God’s predetermined plan, “according to the Scriptures.”[7]

Noah’s flood ended on the 17th day of the 7th month.[8] This month becomes the 1st month at the institution of the Passover.[9] Our new beginning in Christ was on the anniversary of the Earth’s “new beginning” under Noah!

Israel’s new beginning, the crossing of the Red Sea, is believed to have been on the 17th of Nisan. Also, in their flight after Passover, Israel retrieved the body of Joseph from his tomb. After Passover, Jesus was retrieved from another Joseph’s tomb on this date.

The Jericho Journey

Another problem with a Friday crucifixion is John 12:1: “Then Jesus six days before the Passover came to Bethany…” (from Jericho). If the Friday view can be accepted, then six days earlier was the weekly shabbat, and on this day such a journey was legally out of the question for a devout Jew.

Summary

As for the Friday or Wednesday issue, there are many good scholars on each side of this controversy. I personally have become rather cynical toward any tradition that is not supported by Scripture.

Good Friday is the “traditional” view. The Wednesday crucifixion is known as the “reconstructed view.” This article is intended to stimulate study and constructive conversation during this precious season. One attempt to reconcile the chronology of the entire week is shown here:

Jesus’ final week with the Wednesday crucifixion.
Jesus’ final week with the Wednesday crucifixion.
The important thing is that the tomb was empty. The authorities made sure that this was indisputable. Indeed, He is risen!

You got to look to the moon.

When the barley has green ears of corn (usually early March in Israel) then the Passover is on the 14th day since the sighted new moon.

In 32 AD according to calculated tables there was a new moon conjunction on March 29 20:01 UT that is March 29 22:01 Israeli time. But the new moon would not be visible before about 18 hours later... so in 32 AD in Israel the new moon would not be seen before March 30 sunset Sunday. And 14 days later is also Sunday.

In 33 AD according to calculated tables there was a new moon conjunction on March 19 10:39 UT that is March 19 12:39 Israeli time. But the new moon would not be visible before about 18 hours later... so in 33 AD in Israel the new moon would not be seen before March 20 sunset Friday. And 14 days later is also Friday.

Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy confirms that the Messiah would come in 33 AD.

Passover is on the 14th day of the first month and in 33 AD it fell on a Friday.

The Gospels even attest that Jesus was crucified on a Friday.

Mark 15 42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath,

The day before the sabbath... is Friday. And what was translated as preparation Strong's G3904 - paraskeuē is still Friday in Greece.

Of course, normally it is yes. That is why it is still "Friday" in Greece, because that is the normal weekly day of preparation (for the normal, weekly Sabbath).

But in that week there were two Sabbaths.

In the Greek, it says Sabbaths in Matthew (as shown in the OP).

It is not possible to fit three days AND three nights (72 hours) in between Friday and Sunday, which is what Jesus said it would be (and it was). Therefore, because of what Scripture says, it could not possibly have been on a Friday, under any circumstances.

Jesus said three days AND three nights, so Friday is a mathematical impossibility and therefore out of the question.

That sabbath coincided with15 Nisan which was and is a high day.

So Jesus was crucified the day before Saturday 15 Nisan.

And that was Friday 14 Nisan.

The tradition got this right.

That is just an idiom.

To say it is just an idiom, is to call Jesus a liar. So, no.
Mark 16 2Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they went to the tomb.

The tomb was open and empty early Sunday morning.

If Jesus was crucified and buried before Wednesday sunset... His body would be lying dead and decomposing for four days and four nights. He would stink like Lazarus stunk !

No His body did not decompose !

He was as all the Evangelists tell us crucified and buried just before Friday sunset and rose again just before Sunday sunrise.

Jewish customs for legal reasons count any part of one day as one whole day... Friday Saturday and on the third day Sunday. On the third day He would rise again just as He said several times.

To get hung up on one instance where He said three days and three nights is to miss the forest for the trees as a saying goes.

Because He had already risen on the Sabbath Day, after the three days AND three nights as He said He would (which was explained in the OP).

Jesus said three days AND three nights, not four days and four nights.
Wednesday to Saturday (The Sabbath Day / The Lord's Day) is three days AND three nights exactly as Jesus said it would be, not four days and four nights.
No His body did not decompose !
Because it was three days AND three nights, not four days and four nights, just as Jesus said it would be three days AND three nights, which it then was, exactly as Jesus said.
He was as all the Evangelists tell us crucified and buried just before Friday sunset and rose again just before Sunday sunrise.
No, all of the evangelists who say that are WRONG (and if they keep on doing it after being shown the truth, then they are willfully choosing to continue calling Jesus a liar and are therefore not evangelists at all) because that is not three days AND three nights like Jesus said. Can they not even count to three?

Jewish customs (traditions - Talmud) are false and anti-God, because they make the COMMANDMENTS of God of none effect, as Jesus told them (and you and one of the COMMANDMENTS is you will not lie - bear false witness) and so they were condemned repeatedly by Christ, because their traditions that make the COMMANDMENTS of God of none effect are from their father the Devil (The Liar/Opposer - Satan).

Jesus made a Prophetic Statement regarding His burial and Resurrection, and that the time it would take would be three days AND three nights.

To get hung up on "Jewish customs" (the yeast of the pharisees) in favour of and in opposition to the Truth, that Jesus spoke, about His burial and Resurrection, would be being foolish in the extreme. Because, God says, in the COMMANDMENTS that "you shall not bear false witness (lie)" (and counting "any part of a day" as "a whole day for legal reasons" is obviously lying, because, part of a day is part of a day , it is not a whole day, neither is it a day AND a night - this is beyond obvious.)

Perhaps you should therefore be re-evaluating your priorities, because you seem to be stuck wanting to believe the Jewish customs (traditions) that Jesus condemned, over and above (and in opposition to) what Jesus said.

And they all plainly said that Jesus was crucified on Friday !

Not one of them said it was Friday. But, since you want to believe that they did say it, when they did not, because you prefer Jewish customs and want to cling to old false beliefs, that will be what you continue to say and do.

So? Sabbath is the word for Sabbath, in whatever language it is, yet in The Law (Torah) there are several additional Sabbaths given relating to the Biblical feasts (including the Passover) that do not fall on the weekly Sabbath (Saturday) but they are still Sabbaths.

Therefore, just saying that "paraskeue is the Greek word for Friday" and we are going to ignore everything else including what Christ prophesied regarding His burial and Resurection (!) is NOT a worthy argument.

It even tells you, that the first of the Sabbaths (Matthew 28:1 - read the Greek) it was a high Sabbath (not the normal weekly Sabbath - as explained in the OP).

Leviticus
23:5 In the fourteenth [day] of the first month at evening [is] the "I AM"'s Passover.
23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month [is] the Feast of Unleavened Bread unto the "I AM": seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
23:7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

From the OP:

"Many mistakenly believe that Jesus died on a Friday because we are told in the Gospels that they had to get His Body down before the Sabbath began (at sunset).

The second was the weekly Sabbath which took place on Saturday, as always (beginning immediately after sunset Friday and ending at sunset Saturday)."

That is what it says and it does not work in any other way.

Jesus said three days AND three nights, and He (like His Father) always means exactly what He says and says exactly what He means.

Friday in Greek is paraskeuē.

So why did they translate paraskeuē as preparation and not Friday ? For the same reason they translated sabbaton as sabbath and not Saturday.

It even tells you, that the first of the Sabbaths (Matthew 28:1 - read the Greek) it was a high Sabbath (not the normal weekly Sabbath - as explained in the OP).

John 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day, (for that Sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and [that] they might be taken away.
That sabbath coincided with a high day namely 15 Nisan.

Which belief of yours puts you at odds (i.e. in opposition) with Jesus Words and Prophecy, regarding His own burial and Resurrection happening over the course of three days AND three nights, as well as on other issues that have all now been shown, like it saying Sabbaths in Greek in Matthew.

While the analysis shown in the OP does not do that, nor does it contain any contradiction anywhere, and it is just based on carefully reading and following the Scripture, and is in full agreement with what Jesus said.

I therefore much prefer my position, because I don't have to explain anything away and it all fits and makes sense, but your position does not, and you have to explain things away, by saying it's due to Jewish customs, or that Jesus in His Prophecy about His burial and Resurrection was not accurate, but made a mistake (i.e. you are actually calling Jesus wrong and/or incompetent) so, in order to cling to your belief, you have to say no... that was just "an idiom"... etc. etc... thank you but no thank you.

I'm thoroughly content with holding to my position, because it makes perfect sense and fits perfectly every verse and it does not need anything to be changed, especially not Jesus' own Words of Prophecy (or God's Prophecy to Daniel) regarding Jesus' burial and Resurrection taking place over the period of time of three days AND three nights, just as it is stated in the Bible.

To you your belief, and to me mine.
Peace be upon you.

The analysis given in the OPs, is scripturally bulletproof, iron-clad and watertight. It is not possible to truthfully argue against it and win.
