Bibi Andersson has passed away. Rest in peace, Bibi Andersson. I am seriously sad by this.

Oh, my! I think she was burned as a witch in the Seventh Seal. I had a huge crush on her in Wild Strawberries but I didn't know she was in the Seventh Seal. I think she was the poor girl accused of being a witch, now that I think of it. I strongly believed in the state's right to fight against black magic but.... I think her character was totally innocent and I honestly think the Seventh Seal was sort of...... atheist-leaning.

I saw Persona. I watched it and when the movie was over, I distinctly remember who I watched it with said "that was bananas".

So Persona.... I think that was bananas.

Seventh Seal is neat but I've seen it a lot.

Anyways, in honor of Bibi Andersson, I hope you watch Wild Strawberries. I think Persona was obscene and should have been censored. I don't think she has all that much of a part in Seventh Seal.

Watch Wild Strawberries.

Rest in Peace, Bibi Andersson.

Have never seen any Bergman even though I took a film class once. We watched Apocalypse Now, Star Wars (1977), Aliens, Two for the Road, and Seven Samurai. It was only a month long class that met daily so we didn't cover enough film certainly. I was really moved by Apocalypse Now.

Will see if it's at the library. Thanks, etagloc!

Seven Samurai was a cool movie.

I've never seen Apocalypse Now.

I haven't seen Wild Strawberries in a years but I remember I really enjoyed it. The Seventh Seal is what Ingmar Bergman is most known for but I preferred Wild Strawberries.

You should see Apocalypse Now if you're a serious film buff and it seems like you are.

Great cast: Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, Marlon Brando, Dennis Hopper, Harrison Ford, Lawrence Fishburne (credited as Larry Fishburne), and Scott Glenn.

If you've read Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness, you'll already know the plot, it's just set in the Vietnam War era.

I'm not a movie buff. I haven't watched a single movie this year and don't really plan to. I don't think I own any movies. I think I have some DVDs somewhere with the Twilight Zone.

But compared to many, many people I'm a film expert. They don't know who Ingmar Bergman is.

They don't even have a concept that there is an objective quality to aesthetic greatness.... they think it's all relative.

I talked to Roger Ebert (not in person but on his blog) before he passed away.

Roger Ebert was frankly a militant. He had an agenda. He was kind of weird in that he was a sort of leftist, socialist man- he actually wrote me a message talking to me about socialism..... yet however, he was also a very conservative man imo.

He was a fanatical believer in that the aesthetic quality of a film- or any form of art- is not relative but objective.

Imo he was fighting a sort of struggle to defend that view of movies and that was the ideological underpinning of what he did.

The idea that there is such thing as a "Great" movie or that a movie can be objectively great or not- I think that idea sort of died to an extent when Roger Ebert died. Academia is so leftist I doubt even film schools would teach that view.

I don't think there has been or will be a replacement for Roger Ebert.

For Roger Ebert to be Roger Ebert- he could not be a relativist. He had to believe he was leading towards objective truth.

The masses have no idea who Ingmar Bergman is and they don't have the philosophical underpinning that would make knowing who he is meaningful. They can't
because they are brainwashed with relativism in all aspects of life.

So in this context, I may appear like some serious film person but I'm not. It drives me crazy when people say things like that because I'm seriously nobody.

In the movie Idiocracy, the character goes into the dumbed down society of the future. The guy is just an average guy but in the future society, everyone is so dumbed down that they think he's a genius.

Here it's like that. I'm not remotely a film person, I don't think I own a single movie but I know who Ingmar Bergman is and I've seen some of his movies so I appear like a film person.

I think my message for whoever ends up reading this, for whoever reads- when you go around in society..... the people may appear extremely dumb..... the society may seem extremely dumbed-down...... my point is it's not your imagination. You're not hallucinating. People are being dumbed down, people are not naturally as dumb as they appear to be.

And why should I not be bothered by this? At some point, I wouldn't be surprised if they simply shoot people like me.

of course, though, it's not necessary to know who Ingmar Bergman is...... and it's probably better not to watch movies, in general

That was a good and scary movie because there's truth in it.

I don't agree with everything in this video (i.e. calling anti-vaxxers stupid), but pretty much all else is good.

Finally saw Wild Strawberries, @Etagloc . It was good. I was sad that Isak had trouble in love, yet liked the ending where he had a positive memory of Sara, and Marianne and Evald reconciled.

I think my favorite moment is when Marianne threw the couple who almost hit them in a car accident out of her car because the husband was being abusive toward the wife, even if the wife was a drama queen or just merely an actress. She threw them out and said she didn't want to expose the children (even if they were high school/college student age) to them.

I'm glad you saw the movie. The part I really enjoyed was the surreal dream sequence.
