I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned this already (and I apologize if someone has).

Currently, artists are being exposed in huge sex scandals including members from Big Bang, CNBlue, Highlight, and FtIsland. Seungri from Big Bang has been charged with illegal distribution of pornography, prostitution mediation, drugs, tax evasion and police collusion related to the night club Burning Sun where he was a public relations director. Meanwhile, the other members are under investigation for participating in illegal filming/sharing of explicit videos of women without their consent. No doubt, this is something the entire industry is involved in both at the top and bottom rather than just these individuals. But why reveal them now?

As this kind of stuff has been going on in Hollywood probably for even longer, its no surprise that the Kpop industry is in a similar state but the timing and the people being thrown off makes me wonder. Feels like things like this is becoming routine sadly.

LOL vigilant citizen doesn't keep up with foreign scandals and affairs.

I know a LOT about this I have information about it and trust me this was bound to come out.
it's not a scandal to me because this is the industry norm for a lot of those idol stars who are in higher ranks and are sick in the head.
It's not routine korea has developed a mass image system to hide their dirty deeds. Because korea is more singular, uptight, restrictive and taboo about a lot things we're not here in america, a lot of their stars do messy things and criminal acts 10x more than they would have if they had the same freedom americans have.

Seungri also quit the industry and left the group. Not clear yet if he has to do his required miltiary service if he gets jail time, yet he did try to escape to do military service but he couldn't do it. seungri was a paid pimp pimping out trainees and newly debuted idol girls to rich businessman, his network connections and investors especially for sex in his club. the kpop fans are dealing with it but before this all dropped you couldn't tell a fan a damn thing about how the industry works now they are learning. but they are still naive and as dense as ever because the system over there has brainwashed young youth who are kpop fans here in america. so they will only singularly target this to the people and not the industry itself. The hallyu wave is on it's way out.

Even though I don't really follow kpop much (don't have time to waste lol), I guess I was expecting something from the folks who post a lot about it on this forum at least.

That makes a lot of sense though. It's not surprising that due to the culture there it's probably worse in some ways. I knew this was a deep part of the system but didn't really know to what degree. And fans drive me crazy too. The amount of dedication they have to a complete stranger just cuz their rich and famous is disturbing as well as the extent they're willing to excuse criminal behavior due to their bias and feelings. I was always disappointed that kpop was one of the things my mother country is best known for and am not too sorry to see it crumble but what a price to pay.

The thing is South Korea has a huge "spy cam" problem. Creeps and money hungry people are puting spy cams even in public places, toilets and changing room and even broadcasting thoses videos live.

Guys treating woman like objects in the entertainment industry is nothing new. This coming out from a celebrity is a big shock for some. Since they were famous people "idols". But this means nothing to the fans. They are saying shame on you, but that's it. Nobody is going to stop listening to that genre. They aren't the "it" idols anymore anyways. It's not like there are bt3. They are just seen as the black sheep and that's that. Believe me Hallyu is still strong.

do you have source that said Seungri is pimping trainees and newly idols? the accusation is that he pimped some girls, but they are not idols?
any way, I have my doubts whether he has pimped any one, there are a lots of suspicious reports by mainstream media in Korea, that seems like they are targeting him, I am not sure if the accusation is real, not that Kpop doesn't have such thing going on

I also was wondering why no one is posting about Seungri case here, I think because here mostly they are interested in BTS, and anything beside that usually don't get much here

but believe it or not, Seungri case has opened the mind of many of his delusional fans about the media deception, I have seen many comments from his fans that they don't believe the media, which I think its good thing, because the media are full of lies

and between are you Korean? I agree in what you said, its not good for Korea to be known for Kpop, Korea have many great things that it should be known for it, its defiantly Kpop shouldn't be one of them

Yeah I did notice the bts thread seems to be the most active one around here. Although its taken too long, I agree that this may be a way for people to start waking up and considering the fact that dirty things may be going on behind the scenes.

And yes, although I wasn't born/live in Korea so its not exactly home but still connected to me. Its unfortunate because there are sooo many better things than pop music and eye candy artists and the history of the country is fascinating as well.

I liked Korea before I discovered Kpop, and I like the goryeo period, Korea used to be Vegetarian during that period, which something to be proud of in my opinion, but no body seems to care about that, I know about Korea other things outside of the crappy Kpop industry
