I don't know if the thread of this series already exists. But I want to discuss it, and ask people what they think. I remember I was obsessed with this show years back then. Rust Cohle was very appealing for me (still is). Now, I grew older and I have the sense to reevaluate the whys. The show was filled with occult symbolism based on popular belief, literature, fictions like Yellow King.

The issues it brings such a secret organization, sacrifice rituals, p***philia, murder, gang, drugs, you name it. Also Rust character pessimism towards life and his critiques towards religion may attract people to stay in tune with the story. The ending wrapped nicely with "Light vs. Dark" and the light always wins.

But now I wonder, recently I found out that Woody Harrelson is heavily linked with secret society and I wouldn't be surprised if he is part of 'them.' Matthew McConaughey on the other hand, he has a persona as a religious man, though I am not sure about the man.

Second season final has with an open ending. Neither the bad and the good win.

Now the question, why HBO funded such a serial and why the elite allows such a bad depiction of them became public awareness. What's your opinion if you liked the series like I did?

I liked both seasons, Season two seemed to get trashed by critics a lot early on, but if you stuck it out it was worth staying until the end. The only thing I didn't care for in season two is that they pointed to the weird elite Bohemian Grove style group, but then changed direction in the last two episodes though.

" I'm a cop, I can do terrible things to people with Impunity" - Rust Cohle

Chilling and much to close to reality for comforts sake. The show is great its part lovecraftian cosmic horror and part neo-noir detective story mixed with some pretty damn good social commentary. It's also inspired by actual crime stories along the bayou which just gives it all the more punch. Lots of weird unsolved murders in America, most communities have a few at least and it's worth looking into.

Season Two was actually a pretty good commentary on politics, capitalism and power it just wasn't as well acted or produced, but I thought Vince Vaughn and Rachel McAdams still did pretty good.

Season three looks really good though, it premieres in January so it should be an interesting start to the new year. I think Ali and my man Stephen Dorff will be as good as Harrelson/ McConaughey.

The first two episodes of Season 3 were really good. It touched briefly on some of the theories that this site presents, I'd encourage everyone here to watch it. Beautifully shot and the Ozarks are a perfect setting, great acting from Ali and Dorff, going to be interesting how this unfolds, there was a seeming reference to season one as well.

To my understanding, the first season was a blend of two different, but very real-life cases. So while it wasnt necessarily a "based on a true story" style docu-drama, it was certainly reality based. The second season was also reality based, but more of an amalgamation of general accounts and knowledge of these topics than a true-to-story depiction.

Im really hoping that the third edition of the series in the series continues this examination of topics in the truth-telling manner it has thus far and that it builds on the momentum and foundation of the first two seasons.

Very well done so far, I am already liking it better than the previous seasons.

I think I figured out one of the twists already

I watched Season two and liked it quite a bit, but still have no clue what it all meant. It just went way too many directions and didn't consistently tie them together.

They had the basic political/biz scandal of the municipality right outside of LA. There was also environmental questions introduced which was a welcome addition to the plot. This led into the personal corruption of the cops and pols in the city, which led to the state level, which in turn led to state and national biz/pol/leo officials and the Eyes Wide Shut-meets-Hollywood-by-way-of-Sacramento (the Cali state capital) levels. It then turned back on the few corrupt characters, (Vaughn and his crew, the CHP bike cop & etc.) whom were "criminals" but were actually the heros when it came down to it. Thats a very brief summary of how I saw it anyway.... incomplete, but hopefully yall understand what I meant.

I got all that. Season one had all the different plot points but did a better job of linking them all together or it seems, so I will the next two days off I will rewatch Season two and see what I missed the first time. I do know that I am already liking season three more than the previous two, early on its taking some dark turns and it has a creepier vibe than season one for sure.

I binge watched season two yesterday, and it is definitely better the second time around, and I was able to pick up on some of the things I missed the first time around. Both Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell did their best work in years, it's just sad they aren't offered roles like this more often.

Caught episode 3 last night, and third season is without a doubt shaping up to be better than season one.

I got up on an episode or 2 of the new (3rd) season. Dont tell a player too much, no spoilers! lol But to me it already has elements of the WM3 case and due to the timelines, Im guessing some Clinton-esque mysteries could emerge.....

Bill had a cameo in episode 4 “The Hour and the Day”, which is the strongest of the run so far.

It really shows how violence creeps outward creating more and more. It’s hard to match up to the iconic status of S1 and this isn’t as flashy but it’s honestly been just as good.

The scene at the end of episode 5, with Ali and Dorff as old men was just phenomenal, they both deserve an emmy for it, I'm glad my man Stephen Dorff is back, underrated to say the least. I liked Season 2 a lot, but we can thank Mahershala Ali for saving the series, it would have been way different had he not reached out to Pizzolato. The scariest thing is time, no matter the mystery this year what I will remember is the ravages of time. Ali in the 2015 timeline is capturing the horror of Alzheimer's that is more unsettling than any mystery will ever be.

We have a good discussion going here with no spoilers thus far so I will type out a synopsis of where I think the real-world conspiracy tie-ins and this series connect. The TD producers have inserted a LOT of relevant content, depictions or occasionally actual cases which run parallel to their suspense-genre storylines. Due to this there will be limited synopsis of the series itself in favor of examining where this fictional series merges with actual accounts of crime.
SEASON 1 -
The initial installment of the True Detective series focused on a Louisiana based generational cult, human trafficking network & abuse ring which was responsible for not only the usual down-south corruption, but of cementing this political & business dynasty through SRA of primarily child victims. The first season was based on a few area accounts, one infamous investigation which ended uncovering a church which had been operating as a dual-purpose facility..... maintain the facade of a normal church on the surface, specializing in youth ministries and working with at-risk kids..... and prey on children with the most horrific of abuses, many of them satanic in nature. Here is a video article of the case:

The "Boys For Sale" scandal of late 70s/early 80s Houston also has a scent similar to the TD first seasons storyline. There are many similarities between this case and the TD initial season, location and MO being the two which stand out initially. There are also parallels drawn between the local/regional abuse and how these networks wind their ways through to the highest seats of power, including Washington DC.

If you need any more convincing just see who features in this video, you just can't get more illuminati.

Notice how Harrelson is featured in the ritualistic baptism scene.

I found the intro where the man explains why Cash always wears black quite distasteful to be honest. When the high ranking illuminati sing they do it in black.

Just one more example...

....ohhh just one more artist from the video. Please take note of the sign at the beginning of the song (1 min 7 secs)..it's very important.

And low and behold, some time later...

Season 2 -
This season reflected the SoCal/NorCal dynamics of these issues as different locations will obviously differentiate from each other in vice as well as other endeavors. Initially season 2 focused on surface ails of modern life in general and SoCal in specific. But the usual themes of drugs (CHP officer had a substance issue), porn (Detective was trying to remove her sister from that word) and corruption (various schemes/scandals with the local politicians) were just a wading pool to prepare viewers for their trip into the deep end. By the end of the season, viewers were led into a full-on, Eyes Wide Shut revelation regarding the power structure of the Golden State and how that translates on a national level as well.

The character Detective Sergeant Antigone "Ani" Bezzerides, a Venture County Sherrifs Office CID agent, has a problematic relationship with her hippie-guru father whom still leads his cult. It reminded me of the infamous Source Family, their various exploits and leader, "Father Yod".....

Lots of sex & drugs used for political blackmail (especially at the Eyes Wide Shut-esque events) so there are clear Epstein parallels as well.
