I am just asking as I can't remember when was the last time I've heard about them in the news?
Do they still exist?
Or never existed, not needed anymore and they just let it fade away until they need another reason for war?

Until/unless they get some new draft picks, their squad appears to be suffering from a phantom roster.

I'm assuming the rise of isis.
I could be wrong, but isn't isis not too fond of al-qaida?

No terrorist news is good news though

IIRC the Al Qaeda Iraq squad turned into ISIS. The US and Israel needed another name for their team in order to sell tickets and capitalize on another boogeyman for optimal media panic. But of course once they served their purpose you don't hear about them in the mainstream anymore. Hmmm...

That's not really reflective of the facts. People in the Middle East know these people, and they aren't Israeli or American, or even working for them. Do some research on the Muslim Brotherhood, and on the terrorist ideology that came out of that group and inspired Al Qaeda, ISIS, and most other violent Islamic organizations.

You mean the Muslim Brotherhood.created by.tbe CIA and MI6?

Don't have to research that, somebody's done it already.

You are correct that it’s more complicated then what the previous poster described. The US has funded organizations of this ideology since at least the time of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and ISIS as a militia really does come from AQI but other than ideology there wasn’t any connection between AQI and the Al-Qaeda of 9/11 fame.

It is also fair to say that through our proxies, Saudi, Turkey etc we allowed a lot of arms to radical groups including ISIS and that AQI would never have existed if not for the Iraq war.

Big deal. Israel treats Palestinian terrorists in it's hospitals as well.

Islamic terror may get a few band-aids from Israel, but it gets all it's money from Iran. Of course, it's not Islamic terror that bothers some of you, is it? It's the existence of Israel that's driving you crazy.

Better get used to it.
