They are really running out of ideas..... which in one sense provides an excellent opening to attack their agenda..... but on the other hand, it also means that they will likely be upping the shock value considerably...... we aint seen the worst of it yet.SMFH:

I have a totally unfounded theory that VC is actually Titanic Sinclair, the dude behind the project. Poppy was making waves before his article with numerous YouTubers making videos about her... But VC was strangely quiet on her, despite the thread that existing for quite a while. The first article came out between her first and second videos for her first full-length too... A hell of a time to promote. She blew up even more after VC did her write up, not saying he alone caused it, but it didn’t hurt and likely helped.
Don't that this the wrong way, but I'm pretty sure when you were in high school you were a prep or jock. When you tag this vile piece of work on to the other Poppy thread it really does give quite a clear revelation of the method.
They sucker kids in using the same methods then morally debase them.
Even posters on this forum have been taken in either by her "quirky" style or her catchy music or her image.
I'd say she's aimed at a demographic of between 8 to 18 year olds. The hugely inflated YouTube views is just there to pique curiosity of the unsuspecting trend follower who doesn't want to miss anything. "If 16 Million people have watched it, I need to watch it" mentality.
That's how the mainstream works now.
I'm unsure as to what a prep or jock actually is so I can't answer that one.I didn't associate myself to any particular group to be honest as I'm quite a big believer in individuality.Don't that this the wrong way, but I'm pretty sure when you were in high school you were a prep or jock.
Back in my school days, I was a bit of a social pariah. No one liked me and everyone thought that I was a weirdo, so I decided that I'd live it up. I drew pentagrams on my book covers and got into weird shit. Weird shit I'm still into, years later.
But I don't worship the devil. No matter how much my record collection would make you think I might I do. And I never would. Nor does anyone I know who's into weird stuff.. No the other freaks I hung out with in high school, or the weirdos that stayed weird after they graduated. To most people, it's a way to stick it to a system that they hate.
Hell, fringe groups like goths and punks and metalheads are far more inclined to believe in things like the Illuminati than other demographics in my experience.
Anyway, the reason you see this stuff the mainstream always appropriates rebellion. From folk in the 60's, to punk in the 70's, to hip-hop in the 80's and 90's and the like. Considering that most of Poppy is high satirical, riffing on pop music, but from the inside, it's a way for people who hate all the silly mainstream pop artists to get a laugh, imagine they are supporting something radical, all while the same damn record executives get rich.
Yes, exactly. The industry sees something that is popular and subversive so they try to cash in and appropriate it which causes the music to lose what made it radical and become completely commercialized as well. It’s a win-win for them.Anyway, the reason you see this stuff the mainstream always appropriates rebellion. From folk in the 60's, to punk in the 70's, to hip-hop in the 80's and 90's and the like. Really? She seems to be satirizing every aspect of the music industry as well as conspiracy theory culture which is pretty funny. The video posted on this thread for example is obviously meant to be comedic because it juxtaposes a light and happy pop song with a piercing and aggressive metal song... within the same song. The visuals and the lyrics do this as well. It’s pretty deliberately over the top and ironic.I just cannot see the comedy element to Poppy's work.
What a culture vulture.......I'm unsure as to what a prep or jock actually is so I can't answer that one.I didn't associate myself to any particular group to be honest as I'm quite a big believer in individuality.
I do understand your point about the music industry always having a rebellious element but it's often found that these "rebellious" music artists often have family connections to the military or intelligence services, Jim Morrison being a good example and there are many more.
I just cannot see the comedy element to Poppy's work. The satanic imagery is that in your face that people are now passing it off as some type of dark parody.

As stated I believe the main objective is to debase kids here as opposed to titillate a more aware minority.
I just don't see the average 12 year old girl seeing the irony of it to be honest Yes it's over the top but at the same time it also allows morally corrupt characters to be influencing one hell of a large audience.Really? Of course, mainstream "rebellious" artists are part of the system. As I said, it's manufactured rebellion. To quote Crass, "the scorpion might attack, but the system stole its sting".'I'm unsure as to what a prep or jock actually is so I can't answer that one.I didn't associate myself to any particular group to be honest as I'm quite a big believer in individuality.
