Being curious about this case, I actually stayed in that hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It's now called "Stay on Main." It's intensely creepy in there. Nothing out of the ordinary happened during my stay. It was extremely cheap though.
Nothing happened but it's still intenstely creepy?

What was so creepy then?

It bothers me that there is no other surveillance footage of her in that hotel besides the elevator one. What about hallway cameras? How did anyone not follow up on a guest missing for 2 weeks? News reporters mentioned that the roof door was alarm-rigged, nothin triggered that? And suppose she does make it all the way up there in whatever state, decides to strip down, how did she close the opening of the tank after jumping in it?

It's possible that a person who worked at the hotel may have drugged her and tried to r*pe her before dumping her body. They knew how to avoid the elevator camera and may possibly have been holding the button outside so the lift doesnt leave. I know there are loopholes to my theory but im still putting it out there.

Also, she shared a room with another guest earlier who complained about her bizarre behaviour freaking her out - after which Elisa was given a room of her own. Do we know which room she was staying at, what the other guest saw her do that freaked her out and why she was even there in the hotel?

I feel like this case was just closed and nobody probed deeper into it even though there are so many red flags in it

I also found that video very creepy. It's certainly an interesting criminal case to say at least. Would love to look into it if I had been living in LA. Probably for the better. I might have been going missing as well. Unless we could try solve it as a joint effort on the forum. We could all look at it from various angles and any actaul member who happens to live in LA can feel free to check out some leads, if there comes up any. Now I want to check out the hotel on Google Earth just for fun.

http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/british-columbia/elisa-lam-canadian-tragedy-turned-american-horror-story-1.3295239

"The facts are as follows: Lam made internet reservations to check into a shared room for three nights on Jan. 28, 2013.

She was first assigned 506B, but the hotel's general manager said Lam's roommates complained about her "odd behaviour." She was then moved to a private room."

The site states that she made an online booking for 3 days to stay at the Cecil - why didn't anyone check up on her when she didn't check out at the end of the 3 days?
Why hasn't anyone questioned the roommates what she did that was labeled "odd behaviour"?

"The detective said Lam's appearance in the elevator video wasn't the only time she was seen on hotel surveillance tape.

"We did see her come in with two gentlemen. She had — they had a box, gave it to her," he said. "She went up into her — to the elevator. We never saw them again on video."

The search included the roof, but came up empty. Lam's belongings had been moved to the basement: a backpack, laptop and "things of value" that led police to believe she had planned on returning.

And then, nothing."

Why hasn't this video been released publicly so we can atleast search for the men and question them? HER BELONGINGS WERE MOVED THE BASEMENT - RED FLAG RIGHT HERE! Does anyone really believe that this tourist is just freely moving to the roof and basement because she's "bipolar"?? Mental illness is being used as an excuse. Bipolar disorder isn't schizophrenia like it's being portrayed in this case.

And if the coroner is indeed correct that there is no evidence whatsoever of another person involved in this, then I'm going to have to go down the demonic possession route..

Is it possible for us as ordinary people on a forum to contact LAPD to request the other videos? I have no idea since I'm not american. I do want to see the other videos, all of them.

What do you think about it?
I'm sooooo glad I'm not the only one STILL weirded out by this and I have a theory about this. You guys might call me weird for this but have any of you ever heard of the elevator game? Strange similarities between the game and the footage of her on the elevator. If you've never heard of the elevator game I suggest you look into the rules of the game and then watch the footage of Elisa again.

Also .. there's a japanese horror movie, remade to an american horror title with Jennifer Connelley(sp?) called Dark Water. SPOILER ALERT, there ends up being a dead body of a young girl in the water tank on the roof of the building. These coincidences with this case has been fcking with my head since i first saw the video of Elisa.

So let me start by saying that this story terrifies me, that being said, it also totally fascinates me as well. Out of curiosity, I looked up the reviews of this place, holy crap! Of course some are probably trolls, but some are very interesting and creepy nonetheless.

So shortly after she was found in Feb, there was a Trip Advisor review in April. He stated he asked for a late check out because the ELEVATORS WEREN'T working and they were staying on thec9th floor. He said the front desk was rude and unfriendly. He stated thst the elevators did not work for a couple days. Also another Trip Advisor reviewer stated the same thing. I like the internet theory Ive heard on a doc about her. The theory is that she was confused because the elevator wasnt working, thought someone was holding the buttons and messing with it. Then got freaked out byba weirdo in the hallway. Then when she stepped out the last time a person tells another way to get down, like the stairs, but instead forces her to the roof. I used to live in an extended stay hotel for 6 months while waiting for my new house. There were lil tricks us residents would use to keep doors open while bringing in groceries or short cuts to get somewhere quicker. I also used to work at a hotel. I suspect that either someone working there killed her or resident living there. We had a notorious 4th floor at the extended stay i was living at. I constantly was calling the cops on drug dealers, riff raff and the like. So probably some sex offender or serial murder lives there or works there and lured her to the 'shortcut' because the elevator was broken. I bet in a couple years the truth will come out... but still i dont know why she would be in the tank.....that just seems weird. Sorry so long of a post!

That actually happened in Jan. 2014 or 2015, right? Time passes so quickly. Here on VC was the first place that I heard about this case, and like so many other people it seems, I just went straight to Google and YouTube about it.

The whole case presents a strong argument for demonology, but at the same time, Elisa Lam was Rx'd several very strong psychotropic meds. The bending of her arms was one of the strangest things I've seen on video, and I have seen Budd Dwyer's suicide on the internet. Also, while it was true she was in regular contact with her mother, still she was traveling alone AND posting her whereabouts on social media. NOT SAFE. I am not being mean here, or implying that she is somehow at fault for whatever horrible thing happened to her. I just feel the obvious danger of her doing this has never been underscored responsibly, so I am doing it now in a somewhat prissy manner.:rolleyes:

There was also the hotel's odd press-release response: "Elisa Lam died because she was bipolar." What the ?????

Also, I saw photos/read reports that there were two pieces of graffiti on the roof that were in her handwriting. I do not know of the validity of that, but I do not see those reports anymore on the web. Now what I find most disturbing of all is that the graffiti theory/information led me to something that freaked me out for weeks and left me even more disturbed than Elisa's murder itself!

It was theorized that Elisa was led to the roof and inexplicably ordered to write graffiti, take off her clothing, and finally commanded to jump into the water tower through an actual technology called V2K, or voice-to-skull technnology. Now, the idea that V2K was used on Elisa is merely a theory but the technology is real. V2K is a small weapon manufactured by the government whereby after ascertaining DNA from an individual (hair, blood, saliva, teeth, you get the idea) a person can speak into a microphone and transmit spoken messages to that person that they receive inside their head. The victim believes that these spoken messages are their actual thoughts. In my not-at-all-humble opinion, this is the marriage of technology and witchcraft. . When I researched this V2K, there was an insinuation that it is related to the phenomenon of supposedly mentally ill (but otherwise functioning) people who preoccupied with wearing metal on their head to protect them from micro-waves. Voice-2-Skull technology is a military weapon that has been in existence since the late 1970's
When I looked more into this like it doesn’t make sense. The reports said there were no finger prints on the roof but yet someone had to go up there to spray paint. My friend was murdered and it was a cold case due to no Matching fingerprints. Twenty years later this year they ran the fingerprints through better technology and got a hit. So maybe they have prints but nobody to arrest as a suspect.

Ps- my friends suspect was charged with domestic violence that’s how he came up as a more recent possible suspect. He has a history of violence. Now he is living in Mexico and the authorities are trying to bring him to the US to put him through a trial. Anyways I forgot to mention that on Trip Advisor some reviews said the elevator was broken. The reviews were from around the time she was also staying there.

No, seriously? This has got to be a joke. I have read some things and I have been kind of in "The Know" for a while now, but this seems a little far fetched. I'm shocked that I'm shocked by this revelation. Further research is needed on my part...

Yeah, I thought V2K was pretty well known to those that derive their info from better sources that MSM? One of it's first outings was during the 1st Gulf War where a whole village 'heard' the voice of Allah speaking to each of them, commanding them to lay-down their weapons and surrender, which they duly did, only to be swept-up by the Marines (I think). That was way back in '91, imagine how more advanced and perfected that tech will be now.

That's not how that technology works...it doesn't employ drugs or DNA or anything. It works by sending sounds waves at a very high frequency along a focused beam that doesn't radiate outwards like traditional amplifiers, rather it focuses the beam of sound using multiple emitters whereby the sound isn't "heard" until it makes contact with an individual...people report it sounds almost as the the sound is coming from their head because you can't detect it around you or hear it coming. Of course I haven't personally experienced it, but the technology does exist and you can even buy such speakers online I think. A few companies make them. The sound doesn't pass through walls or anything...and it has a tiny radius so simply moving a few feet would get you out of its path (unless someone was tracking you) - but any solid object would block the sound.

http://sites.gsu.edu/finalproject-waltzhao/bipolar-disorder/ All due respect to everyone's theories, but Elisa Lam was having a meltdown. I remember reading up on this for awhile. There are plenty of scenarios that could play off of her being manic/schizo and just being a nut case cause of withdrawals and the like. Her toxicology results showed she had no drugs in her system, despite being prescribed to stay mentally stable. Her roomates said she was acting strange, again missed her meds. The days leading to her death she's just mentally loopy/unstable. Having meltdowns. Somehow she ended up at the top of the Cecil, the door leading into the tank I remember reading wasn't heavy enough for someone to open. Very plausible she just went in because. Being mentally unstable, people do some "dafuq?" Type stuff. My belief, when she got inside the tank, she opened the top enough to get in, but just enough for gravity to hinge the top back to closure. Given her manic state. She stripped down and boom. She died over time. I'd love to believe something more sinister was afoot, given the hotel's history. But this is just a sad case of an unstable youngster
