This is a thread about Ramadan maybe the likes of Floss and that other guy trolling can respect that and either be productive in their contributions, or leave the thread.

To everyone else, have a blessed Ramadan, may the almighty accept your fast and may He also accept the duas and prayers of you and your families.
I hope some of the non-muslims try and fast a day or two- it's a real spirituality booster. It's also a good way to reign in your appetite for those struggling with their health.

Ramadan Kareem all!

I thank Allah that we are all able to read this and enjoy the benefits of Ramadan and that we are able to live through this blessed month once again. I pray that Allah blesses your families and bestowes His mercy on you. Ameen!

Now, what are your plans for this Ramadan and what kind of Dhikr do you do?

Also; what was for suhoor/iftar?

I plan to read the entire Quran this month, and use tasbeeh every moment I have a chance aside from regular and voluntary prayers. I am also attending several iftar held by the masjid with my oeghti fi deen.

I had whole wheat bread, some cheese, dates and an apple with tea for Suhoor this morning. We just started fasting today. I try to eat extra healthy and wholesome food during Ramadan.

I pray that Allah (s.w.t) makes this easy for you and for us as well! Very inspirational. May we all race for paradise this Ramadan. Ameen

Our Thursday still has not started and I am trying to get olives for the feta cheese we bought (probably have humus and/or baba ghanoush, crushed garlic, a salad and smoothies as well inshaAllahl! I like simple suhoors.:)
Thanks that was a fun exercise.

Benefits of Seeking Forgiveness

Do you want to have peace of mind, reassurance, and joy? You should ask for the forgiveness of Allah, The Almighty. Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {And [saying], "Seek Forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He Will Let you enjoy a good provision} [Quran 11: 3]

Do you want to have a strong body and be healthy, and be free of diseases and disabilities?
If so, you should ask for the forgiveness of Allah, The Almighty. Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {Ask Forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and Increase you in strength [added] to your strength.} [Quran 11: 52]

Do you want to drive disasters and accidents away and be safe from Fitnah (trials) and afflictions? You should ask for the forgiveness of Allah, The Almighty. Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {But Allah would not punish them while you, [O Muhammad], are among them, and Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.} [Quran 8: 33]

Do you want rain in continuing showers, righteous children, lawful money, and expanded sustenance?
Then you should ask for the forgiveness of Allah. Allah, The Almighty, Says (what means): {And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He Is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers. And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.} [Quran 71: 10- 12]

Do you want your sins to be forgiven, your rewards to be increased, and your rank to be elevated? You should ask for the forgiveness of Allah, The Almighty. Allah Says (what means): {And say, 'Relieve us of our burdens.' We will [then] forgive your sins for you, and We will Increase the doers of good [in goodness and reward]."} [Quran 2: 58]

Asking for forgiveness is the successful remedy for getting rid of sins. This is why the Prophet
ordered us to ask for the forgiveness of Allah, The Almighty, frequently. The Prophet
said: “O people! Ask for the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him as I ask for the forgiveness of Allah and repent to Him one hundred times a day.”

Allah, The Almighty, is satisfied with the one who asks for His forgiveness as this person acknowledges his sin as if he says, “O Allah! I have made a mistake and I was negligent with Your rights as I wronged myself and the devil tempted me and my soul, which is a persistent enjoiner of evil, betrayed me. I relied on Your mercy, forgiveness, and forbearance. Now, I come to You while repenting and regretting, so forgive me, remove my sins and mistakes as I do not have any other Lord but You. O Allah! Even if my sins are grave, Your Forgiveness is greater and more comprehensive."

Barak Allah feeki sis! Very important information!
wa feekum Barak Allah!

Questioner: What words of advice do you direct to the Islamic Ummah concerning the month of Ramadan?

Ibn Baaz: بسم الله، والحمد لله، وصلى الله على رسول الله، وعلى آله وأصحابه، ومن اهتدى بهداه، أما بعد:

Concerning the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadaan for this year 1414H/1993 I advise my brother Muslims in all places to fear Allaah, and to race to all that is good, to exhort one another to truth and to be patient in that, cooperating upon righteousness and taqwaa, being wary of everything that Allaah has forbidden, of all sins in all places, especially during this precious month,

for it is a great month in which righteous deeds are multiplied, and the sins of the people who fast and stand in prayer during it out of sincere faith and seeking its reward from Allaah are forgiven, due to the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, “Whoever prays during the night in Ramadaan out of sincere faith and seeking its reward from Allaah, will have all of his previous sins forgiven.” [Reported by Bukhaari and Muslim]

And his saying ﷺ, “When Ramadaan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained up.”

And his saying ﷺ, “Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is fasting, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor raise his voice. If anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him he should say, ‘I am fasting.’”

And his saying ﷺ, “Allaah the Exalted and Majestic said: ‘Every act of the son of Adam is for him, the reward of every (good) deed of a person is multiplied tenfold, except fasting which is (exclusively) for Me, and I will reward him for it. He has abstained from food and drink, and sexual pleasures for My sake. The one who fasts experiences two pleasures: he feels pleasure when he breaks his fast and he will be joyful when he meets his Lord, and surely the breath of someone fasting is better smelling to Allah than the fragrance of musk.”

And he ﷺ used to give his Companions the joyous news of Ramadaan’s arrival, saying to them, ‘The month of Ramadaan has come to you, a month of blessings, Allaah sends down Mercy in it, wipes away sins, answers supplications, boasts of you before His Angels, so show Allaah good from yourselves, for the wretched one is the one who is deprived of Allaah’s Mercy in it.’

And he ﷺ said, ‘Whoever does not give up evil and ignorant speech, and acting in accordance with it, then Allaah has no need of him giving up his food and drink,” reported by Bukhaari in his Saheeh and the hadiths about the excellence of Ramadaan and the encouragement to do extra [good] deeds in it are numerous.

So I advise my brother Muslims to remain steadfast during its days and nights and to compete [with each other] in all good deeds, amongst which is increasing in ones recitation of the Noble Quran with reflection and understanding and increasing how much one says SubhaanallaahalhamdulillaahLaa ilaaha illallaah … Allaahu Akbar … and astaghfirullaah and in how much one asks Allaah for Paradise and seeks refuge from the Fire and in all good supplications [in general].

Just as I also advise my brothers to increase in giving in charity, and in consoling the poor and needy, paying attention to producing one’s zakaah and giving it to those who deserve it, along with paying attention to calling to Allaah سبحانه, educating the ignorant, enjoining the good and forbidding evil with gentleness, wisdom and a good manner, whilst being careful of all sins and sticking to repentance and remaining steadfast upon the truth, doing so due to His Saying, ‘And turn to Allaah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed,’ [24:31]

and His Saying, ‘Indeed those who say, ‘Our lord is Allaah,’ and then follow the straight path there is no fear, nor shall they grieve. Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding eternally therein as reward for what they used to do.’ [46:13-14]

May Allaah grant everyone success in doing that which pleases Him, and may He grant refuge to all from trials that lead one astray, and from the whispers of the Devil, indeed Allaah is the Magnanimous, Most Generous.

Ramadan helps us!
This month is special because it helps us put the Creator's wishes first.
Before our usual pursuits and the endless time we spend on the whims of self, the pursuit of money, the joys of friendship and family we are reminded that all these are temporary and that the pursuit of nearness of Allah is the best goal.
Remember the pain of self discipline is better than the pain of regret.

Allah Only created Mankind and Jinns to worship Him Alone

"Allah the Exalted and Most Honored said,
﴿وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالإِنسَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ ﴾
(And I created not the Jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me.) meaning, `I, Allah, only created them so that I order them to worship Me, not that I need them.' `Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn `Abbas commented on the Ayah,
﴿إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ﴾
(...except that they should worship Me.) meaning, "So that they worship Me, willingly or unwillingly.'' Allah the Exalted said,
(I seek not any provision from them nor do I ask that they should feed Me. Verily, Allah is the All-Provider, Owner of power, the Most Strong.) Imam Ahmad recorded that `Abdullah bin Mas`ud said, "The Messenger of Allah taught the following: (إنِّي أَنَا الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِين) `Verily, I am the Provider, Owner of power, the Most Strong.' Abu Dawud, At-Tirmidhi and An-Nasa'i also collected this Hadith. At-Tirmidhi said, "Hasan Sahih. '' The meaning of this Ayah (51:56) is that, Allah the Exalted, the Blessed created the creatures so that they worship Him Alone without partners. Those who obey Him will be rewarded with the best rewards, while those who disobey Him will receive the worst punishment from Him. Allah stated that He does not need creatures, but rather, they are in need of Him in all conditions. He is alone their Creator and Provider. Imam

Rabbana taqabbal minna innaka antas Sameeaul Aleem

Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us: For Thou art the All-Hearing, the All-knowing.

Surah Al-Baqarah - 2:127

Rabbana wa-j'alna Muslimayni laka wa min Dhurriyatina 'Ummatan Muslimatan laka wa 'Arina Manasikana wa tub 'alayna 'innaka 'antat-Tawwabu-Raheem

Surah Al-Baqarah - 2:128

Rabbana - 3
رَبَّنَآ اٰتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَّفِي الْاٰخِرَةِ حَسَـنَةً وَّقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earned. "Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us; our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maula (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people."

Yes! Thanks GS.

I dedicated 100 beads of my tasbeeh only to asking forgiveness today. For sins I remember and sins I don't remember. I do this every day I can. It's so important!

Do any of you have a ramadan checklist to keep track and not get distracted?
I saw this ramadan checklist online, however for myself I just reflect before I sleep.....:--)
.BarakAllah feekum. May the blessings of the Creator be upon you all! Ameen!
Tadabur means contemplate, adkar means supplications infaaq/sadaaqah means charity. (this is for those who might not know)

wa feekum baarak Allah, walaikum as salam wa rahmatullah ~

I really like that list- jazak Allah Khaira! I do something like it but make a table with thirty columns to check them off - something about seeing those check marks keeps me motivated!

I found this online book and have been reading a chapter each day with my children.https://islamhouse.com/en/books/320535/ It's really beautiful.

If you try to read at least five pages after each fard salah you will complete a juz each day in shaa Allah For those who don't read Arabic yet, you could read the translation of meanings by Juz - one Juz each day and you finish the Quran in the month. Here is the division of the Ajza:

Juz’ 1 – Al Fatiha 1 – Al Baqarah 141
Juz’ 2 – Al Baqarah 142 – Al Baqarah 252
Juz’ 3 – Al Baqarah 253 – Al Imran 92
Juz’ 4 – Al Imran 93 – An Nisaa 23
Juz’ 5 – An Nisaa 24 – An Nisaa 147
Juz’ 6 – An Nisaa 148 – Al Ma’idah 81
Juz’ 7 – Al Ma’idah 82 – Al An’am 110
Juz’ 8 – Al An’am 111 – Al A’raf 87
Juz’ 9 – Al A’raf 88 – Al Anfal 40
Juz’ 10 – Al Anfal 41 – At Tauba 92
Juz’ 11 – At Tauba 93 – Hud 5
Juz’ 12 – Hud 6 – Yusuf 52
Juz’ 13 – Yusuf 53 – Ibrahim 52
Juz’ 14 – Al Hijr 1 – An Nahl 128
Juz’ 15 – Bani Isra’il 1 – Al Kahf 74
Juz’ 16 – Al Kahf 75 – Ta Ha 135
Juz’ 17 – Al Anbiyaa 1 – Al Hajj 78
Juz’ 18 – Al Muminun 1 – Al Furqan 20
Juz’ 19 – Al Furqan 21 – An Naml 55
Juz’ 20 – An Naml 56 – Al Ankabut 45
Juz’ 21 – Al Ankabut 46 – Al Ahzab 30
Juz’ 22 – Al Ahzab 31 – Ya Sin 27
Juz’ 23 – Ya Sin 28 – Az Zumar 31
Juz’ 24 – Az Zumar 32 – Fussilat 46
Juz’ 25 – Fussilat 47 – Al Jathiya 37
Juz’ 26 – Al Ahqaf 1 – Az Zariyat 30
Juz’ 27 – Az Zariyat 31 – Al Hadid 29
Juz’ 28 – Al Mujadila 1 – At Tahrim 12
Juz’ 29 – Al Mulk 1 – Al Mursalat 50
Juz’ 30 – An Nabaa 1 – An Nas 6

Better to read more than A juz a day - read as much as you can in sha Allah - so many rewards for it, Allahu Akbar.

I also do my cooking early in the day - before Dhuhr if I can, and clean all dishes and house early on too - then food only needs to be heated and served after Maghrib.

If I can't go to the masjid for Tarawih then I make sure to do it at home. My best tip though is making lots of istighfar and al- hamd and dhikr - all day - don't let your tongue stop with the remembrance of Allah if you can - it is giving me strength and peaceful heart throughout my day walhamdulillah. barak Allahu feekum!

Got caught outside and under the heat for a while, rushing around. Headache coming on now and I admit I thought "maybe I just need some water"..... but Inshallah we can stay strong and maintain our fasts until iftar tonight!
Hope it worked out for you! May Allah grant you Sabr.

I will have my first shared iftar on sunday! I am a recent convert and a sister invited me, Masha'Allah :)

How do i say in Arabic: O Allah, please forgive me for all my sins? Or Allah please forgive me?
If possible in English transliteration.

Is it just Astaghfirullah?
And is there difference between: Astaghfirullah and ASTUGH-FER-ALLAH?
From a site: https://towardsfalah.com/duaas/arabic-phrases/

Sorry, it got me confused a bit looking for the answer.

My mile in your shoes.

3rd fast today. First day was difficult for me. I ended up with a migraine. But that is most likely because I didn't wake up at 2:30am for the breakfast meal before fasting began for the first day. The second day I made sure I didn't sleep until I had eaten some food and had plenty of water. I broke my fast at 9 pm both days. I slept last night though, and woke up for around 2:45 so I could be fed and watered. Today is the third day and so far so good!

I think at this point I should iterate my reasons for fasting. I wish to grow spiritually, and get closer to the supreme being who is God! I know he is one and I know all the chosen of God, from Abraham to Mohamed fasted. So I too am fasting.

During moments of thirst and hunger, I reflect upon life and my purpose and find that my thoughts are purer. I'm more focused because I cannot give in to my bodily desires due to fasting. My awareness of the supreme being, god, is peaking. This ritual of fasting is more than physical I feel. It is moreso spiritual, and I can understand why there is so much benefit in it... but this is only day 3.

I wonder, like a child embarking on an adventure with adults, what the other long 27 days will bring.
